    "Hi, im new"

When you're tank and you face pull--->flash every mob in a lvl 53 dungeon and then face em towards the BLM who just dropped Ley Lines... you're new to what now? This dungeon or ALL dungeons?... And then wipe because you faced the boss towards the party and burned our healer to death, "STFU! I said I was new!" doesn't work. Sorry.

Outside of trials and raids and unless you're new to Sastasha normal, "hi, I'm new" is not a free pass to derp it up. Seeing too much of that excuse lately in lvl 51+ dungeons when healers can't heal through party wide damage, tanks can't control aggro in non-lvl synced parties and deeps don't dodge AoEs or burn adds.

"Hi, I'm new" =/= "Hi, I'm new to Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn"

"I'm new" only excuses F-ing up mechanics the 1st wipe, maybe the 2nd as long as they're learning (had a new tank in Snow Cloak once, everything was fine till Fenrir, luckily I had his back and everyone worked togeather to help him.)

But not knowing how to tank at level 51+ content means it's time to dump your heavy armor and find a new class.

"Being New" and "Being a scrub" are totally different things.

Most of the time these kinds of players are the result of easy leveling through fate grinding, where they get 0 experience actually tanking, just press random buttons because "it's damage" and don't really get party wide damage to learn to heal or they are just THAT bad and got carried through the game by over geared players....

"Hi im new" is certainly no excuse for not knowing even basic tanking skills or the basic skills of whatever job they are playing... i agree with you there OP and i too am sick of this with random PUGs, i don't even do PUGs in DF anymore because this kind of experience is FAR too common :L

I've run with a few tanks like this. I hesitate to say that they purchased their characters, partly because not all of them were in Heavensward yet, but they certainly did their leveling outside of dungeons. They likely are new to MMOs and ran with friends who wouldn't criticize them as heavily as a random would.

I know one or two cases like that.

Did you try offering them any tips and advice? If someone is new, no matter what level or what dumb mistakes they're making, I generally try to give them the benefit of the doubt and treat them as NEW new because surprisingly a lot of people at level 50+ still don't know basic shit for... whatever reason.

If they're willing to listen to advice and learn, I can excuse wipes as they try to get a grasp on it.

    If they aren't? Bye.

OK if they're a rookie amung roomies who's only been playing a week I get ONCE, but twice? All 3 sub bosses are EXACTLY the same. There was no excuse for them. Out of revenge for them costing the DPS their lives on the last one I went claric and watched them hit the ground in seconds.

Being new is one thing, not knowing your D-Pad from a shift key is entirely diffrent.

If someone is new to a dungeon or trial, I will do my best to guide them along, explaining the core mechanics and when they show up, it usually works fine. Usually the "new" player is decent and they just need tips for bosses and such.

I know the feel of people using the "I'm new" excuse, we were all new, most of us didn't make the same mistakes. Had a healer who outright couldn't kite the adds for the first boss in Cutters Cry, we told them to simply keep moving as I could keep myself alive with Souleater, but they kept dying, they said they were running, but me and the DPS saw otherwise (they just stopped randomly every time) and then on the second boss, I said they need to esuna off sludge because it deals high damage, they never did and asked why the DPS kept dying, then they quit.

There is a difference between being new and not reading your tooltips/chat log.

Threads like these are why I'm terrified of tanking through the Duty Finder. I'm not a very good tank, and I'd like to be a better tank, but if I'm just going to get kicked for losing aggro or whatever, how am I ever going to improve? I dread the leveling roulette because certain dungeons are really hard for me to tank. Most days I don't even do it.

As for healers in Cutter's Cry, if they were a Scholar, they might not have been able to remove the sludge. Scholars don't learn Leeches until level 40.

"I am new" usually means "I am too lazy to do my homework before entering the instance" or "You might think that I am less skilled player, but do not worry, I am actually quite good, but you can't see it, because I am new"... I don't see the point to lower morale before the run even starts. If somebody is playing poorly, it doesn't matter if they are new or not. They are not prepared / playing poorly and forcing rest of the group to make up for their performance. Mistake is still mistake and exuces are not going to change that. The irony is that "I am new", actually may give ppl motivation to spot mistakes that wouldn't be otherwise noticed.

"Instant queues". Honestly, the hardest thing about tanking is persuading yourself that you are doing good job, while paying attention to mistakes of your "awesome" dps comrades, just in case they would start pointing out yours. Unfortunatelly, until we get at least some kind of dps meters, the tanks and healers are always going to be the primary target of blame.
