You don't have to be experienced to know that you don't turn mobs towards the party.

As a new player, and a tank, I tell every dungeon group that I've not been to a dungeon before - which is most dungeon runs as the main story quest exp is so extreme, you barely get to run a dungeon twice.
I have never, not once, received anything but "that's ok", "np ^^", "we'll explain as you go", etc. I've already read up online, but it helps.
If this was WoW, I'd have been murdered half the time, and received no reply for the remainder.
This is my experience as well. I see positive responses like 95% of the time. "np", "nvm", "that's fine" - all are very common.
Also, most of the time, you can tell pretty quickly wheter the player is new just to the content or it's the kind of default "hi, I'm new" player.
Anyways, seems like not such a big deal to me.

I know that feeling well. I am not a tank but I am a completionist so I always max out all classes but I NEVER do leveling roulette as tank because I struggle with tanking large groups and often lose one or two mobs. Since people have no patience for that I end up leveling tanks through trial roulette, since tanking one target is much easier, and through doing hunts. The problem is none of those two things help me learn crowd control so it's a vicious circle.Threads like these are why I'm terrified of tanking through the Duty Finder. I'm not a very good tank, and I'd like to be a better tank, but if I'm just going to get kicked for losing aggro or whatever, how am I ever going to improve? I dread the leveling roulette because certain dungeons are really hard for me to tank. Most days I don't even do it.

You shouldn't worry about losing the odd mob from a large group, the DPS aren't made of paper, they can take hits from single mobs, if they've pulled aggro chances are the mob is nearly dead (unless they hit it before you got aggro) and its not worth trying to take back. Losing the odd mob is better than losing most of the group, and if the DPS are even semi competent they'll focus it down anyway. As a MNK if i pull i'll just switch target unless i think i can kill it quickly.
Ultimately though, if they moan about it just ignore them, unless you know you messed up then just apologize, they can't really do anything but kick you which means you just re-queue for an instant pop and they are stuck waiting. It's never worth kicking a tank unless they are purely useless and have no idea how to tank at all.
For the most part, all the players that say they are new are actually pretty decent players. Once you explain to them the mechanics, they usually get it down in one pull(maybe they mess up once if its something kinda unique/challenging).
I don't mind someone saying they're new to a dungeon, but obviously once you get to a certain point there are basics you should have down pat. For example a level 50+ tank should know how to position mobs away from a group, know when to pop CDs, etc.
New people are some of the best people. They might not have the mechanics of a dungeon down just yet but they're very persistent, they don't complain, they just get in there and do their best.
"I'm only level 45"
"Ok what level do you learn how to FUCKING READ?"
