i just stuck materia on the main/offhands of the important ones....

Thanks for the advice!Yeah pretty much. This is why I made all my 2 star accessories first, because CP was so valuable in doing rotations. Which would stem on my advice. Meld what you have to on as few early mainhand/offhands as you need (avoid IV materia) and go for those accessories and main/offhand replacements and somewhere in-between your chests for fun and flavor.
So your recommend now is new i170 Off-Hand > Accessories > Then random Body Pieces until we get more clarity on Tier V / real new recipes? Thanks.
Also, if I ever get some bad RNG in your Low CP rotation, what is my recourse? On some jobs we won't have Reclaim (I didn't have space for it on BSM). I guess just NQ then?

I need to update the guide today and recommend your last skill choice as ToT > Reclaim > Innovate. So on everyone except armor smith you would get Reclaim (who would have to drop ToT in order to take it). Innovate is nice to have in the rotation, but a second precise/basic is just as good IMO after lots of testing. So your recommend now is new i170 Off-Hand > Accessories > Then random Body Pieces until we get more clarity on Tier V / real new recipes? Thanks.

Hi Kat,
One last thing: I got your advice earlier, about where to possibly (safely) take a Tricks of the Trade, or a Precise Touch.
But during one of those "safe spots" you recommended, if I take a Tricks of the Trade, what do I do with the extra CP? (sorry for such an obvious question, I wasn't sure)
Do I then convert the very last Hasty Touch into a Basic Touch or something?
Thanks!

I'm not Kat, but generally, I will use extra CP to convert a Hasty Touch (HT) into a Precise Touch (PT) if a Good or Excellent (G/E) condition occurs when an HT is scheduled to be performed. But if you get near the end, you can use it to convert the HT to a Basic Touch (BT) regardless of whether you get a well-timed G/E proc.
Each ToT allows approximately one conversion of an HT to a PT or BT.
Some rotations allow you to add an Innovation between the Great Strides and the Byregot's Blessing if you have some extra CP, but this has to be carefully done to not disrupt the timing of any Steady Hand or Innovation that may be active at the time.

What Silverbane said. And I need to upload a video. But like a total nubbin, I hold my left hand out and hold one finger up for each spare 18 cp I have (I drop innovate 95% of the time so at 420 base CP + HQ Baked Onion Soup) I start with 18 spare CP. For one ToT I get during FS, I count a second finger. Any ToTs I gather outside SHII and IngII I count one more finger (I almost never get more than three fingers or 18x3=54 extra CP).
I will then trade these in AS SOON AS POSSIBLE for precise touches in place of hasty touches. Once I've traded them all in (and aren't holding any fingers up) I know to not to pull any monkey business and just follow the rotation. Never consume more precise touches than you can... otherwise you'll have to do wonky stuff to finish.
Feel free to do this in your head =) But that's pretty much all you should do with your extra CP (or a final Innovate as shown in the pictures). At this point I think a successful precise touch is better than innovate, innovate is better than basic touch, and basic touch is your last resort for spending extra CP.

One thing I need to math up is what the MaMa Careful Synth (Max CP, Extra Progress) would require for craftsmanship, while using Ingenuity I. You could easily pull this off I suspect with Ingenuity I... and when doing so save another 18 CP (granting another free Precise/Basic. I don't think its all that high. According to my math on two star recipies using Ingenuity I Nets 7% less progress (vs Ingenuity II). So roughly speaking you need 7% more craftsmanship to make up this gap. using the example of requiring 10/13 FS.. the bar minimum craftsmanship should be 739 (I list it as 746 which is 718 + foodbuff). So 739 * 1.07 gives us ~790.
So somewhere inbetween 790 and 800 craftsmanship (with your foodbuff included)... you could in theory use the Extra Progress rotations with Ingenuity I. With 419 base CP this would give you two free Precise/Basic (or one free precise and innovate). This would further improve the overall HQ chance nicely, effectively reducing your need to hit another hasty touch.
So in theory:
MaMa Careful Synth (Max CP, Extra Progress, Ingenuity I, Requires 10/13 Flawless Synth) Required stats 790-800 Craftsman and 467 CP
MaMa Careful Synth (Max CP, Extra Progress, Ingenuity I, Requires 9/13 Flawless Synth) Required stats 820-830 Craftsman and 467 CP
WARNING THOUGH I need to actually test this theory to see what the craftsman breakpoint actually is. I'll test this out on my blacksmith and weaver this week. I can equip the Blacksmith to be over 830 and Weaver around 790 to test this theory.
* Ewww.. one problem with this theory is you would actually need 421 base since 8+8 is 16 not 18... or you could use HQ Seafood... though a single ToT proc is 20 CP... so one ToT would also put you even. Max equipment CP is 422... so any way you cut it we're getting fairly high end with the rotation theory here. I personally sit at 420 (with +3 CP in main/offhand rather than +4)

Another errant note. I was a bit tired when I took screenshots of the extra progress rotations. In the the correct final sequence for proc fishing would be SHII > Hasty > Greater Strides > Ingenuity II > Innovate (if available) > Byregot's > Careful > Careful. I'll try to correct this some time.

Thanks so much Silverbane, Kat!
Got it.
Also, BTW, to utilize your higher CP / Crafts rotations you list, doesn't that mean that you realistically are melding some pieces *not* at Max Cap (since Tier V not available), and you're counting on... erasing / removing and re-melding later?

When the time comes, I'll either go to Mutamix and get the old materia cleared out, or I'll make a new item, convert the old item to (hopefully) Grade V materia, and put the resulting materia in the new one. Which I do will depend on factors including the relative availability/value of the mats to craft the particular new piece and the Grade 5 materia, and I cannot predict that without knowing what changes/additions SE will make to crafting and gathering by that time.
