I usually just sit there then. I'm the healer, they can't really proceed without me.
They can either agree to vote abandon or kick me. A bad group is a bad group.
This is just as bad cause then you or others like that not being any better then the rest of the group, don't like the group leave and eat the penalty don't contribute to the problem.
Just remember this can be reported, as it counts as harassment. You need to assess which would be potentially worse: Eating a 30 minute penalty, or risk a 3 day suspension/permaban.
See, I love it when healers (and tanks) do this. Most players have something other than FFXIV that they would like to do at any given time, so, every time this has happened in a DF I'm in, I've managed to convince the entire rest of the party to AFK with the healer and do that something else for a while. I also tell them to keep a loose eye on the screen in case progression can continue due to the healer getting over themselves, which has happened a few times. Usually, though, the healer comes back within 10 minutes, sees that they haven't been kicked and that we're all AFKing alongside them, and starts to rage all over chat.
At that point, the healer has two choices: sit there until time runs out, or leave and eat LESS of a penalty. A fair few of them try to call the bluff and actually do sit there until time runs out, the poor saps. The rest of them leave, having wasted an additional 10 or so minutes atop of their now 30-minute queue lock.
I get a perverse enjoyment from poking at people's egos. Poetic justice is sweet justice.

Anyway, snark aside, I see your point about being punished as the one who has done nothing wrong. When you're the only one fulfilling their class role, it can suck having to suck it up and take one for the team you've come to lose all respect for.
But here's the fact of the matter: at least 2 people aside from yourself decided that the dungeon was worth continuing; the vote to abandon would have passed, otherwise. That means that it is not the majority of the group that thinks the dungeon insurmountable in current conditions. You can ask to be kicked, but you might be denied. At that point, you can choose to leave. If you do, you are not punished for doing something wrong in the dungeon, but are punished for leaving a group in progress that was not disbanding, which you did.
The system is working as intended.
I've been noticing this, too. It's similar to an escape character in programming or web design - note how they're all before apostrophes. I wonder if he/she's a programmer and it's some sort of habit.

This is rude and and awful. What are you, five years old? I usually report people like this if I know they're doing it to avoid the penalty.
I'm patient, I can wait for you to leave on your own. If you want out so bad then just leave the dungeon and eat your penalty.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Which is one thing that a mod said is reportable, going AFK for the intention of getting kicked.
Just leave and do something else for 30 mins.
And i don't even understand why.
Its not a raid progression where you spend hours learning the fight, its just a dungeon where everything fight can be 1 shot even on the 1st try.
I mean if a group wipe more than 3 times for whatever reason, why wouldnt they vote abandon ? Because that guy over there is new to the dungeon and want to finish it no matter what ? I don't give a flying F about it.
First wipe is fine, Y'know mistake happens i'll tell you what to fix.
Second wipe is starting to piss me, but ill calmly explain again.
Third wipe, ill warn the group its my last try and explain one last time in a less kindly sometimes borderline manner.
Fourth wipe, GET F*CK OUT ill vote abandon. There is no way im the one paying for people's incompetence by taking the penalty. Even if that means acting like an ass in order to get kicked if the vote fails.

I have no idea either. Sometimes there are such teams that don't work out for whatever reason.
If in this particular case the tank had been one of the DDs and died constantly, well, fine with me.
But as a tank you play a key role. Tank and healer are roles that carry a lot of responsibility. It's okay if someone's new, but it's not okay if someone's unwilling to learn, or too stubborn, or stoned/drunk.
Now, why the vote didn't pass, I do not know.
And you have been punished for being the best player in that group cause you left and got the penalty, which is wrong.
As you said they should find something to prevent that to happen again.
The penalty timer should at least decrease by 15 mins every 3 wipes anywhere in the dungeon.
This way twats leaving after the first 2 wipes will still get locked for 30mins whereas players like you and me will only be locked for 15 mins and even no penalty at all if your mind is strong enough to endure the stupidity of witnessing 6 wipes ( granted it happens more often in Ex primals / coil etc than dungeons ).
I know we're still getting punished for other people's incompetence but at least we won't have to wait THAT much.
