I dislike the idea of a vote for abandon option as it is open to abuse.

People only "abuse" the vote to abandon option in this way because the penalty is too heavy-handed. I think 30 minutes is too long. Either 15 minutes in or after 2-3 wipes. If your group has wiped x times you should absolutely be able to leave that group without penalty and without forcing the rest of the team to vote an abandon.

Folks, sometimes you are going to get people that troll you. It's unfortunate but it's a fact of life and once upon a time gamers just dealt with reality. laughed and moved on. This whole idea of shaping the system to eliminate that one troll while making life harder for the ten or so non-trolls that just want to leave a frustrating dungeon is, in my opinion, a sad symptom of this overly sensitive world we live in today.

It's definitely a necessary system and it would be too hard to implement it only under certain circumstances. 30 minutes isn't eve that bad a penalty considering how easy it is to spend that time doing something else.

I'm thankful for it. It keeps people from quitting and re-queuing ad nauseam. I also would rather just deal with a penalty time than have to deal with a truly awful party.

Yeah, hence my proposal: Let the game check how many casualties happened within one fight due to ignored mechanics, at least at bosses.
If the whole party wipes repeatedly because they ignore mechanics, how is one person supposed to carry the party through?
Of course you'd want to leave at some point.

Well, SE can track that for Trials (and they do for scaling up Echo), but with Trials basically the whole instance resets on wipe. From a technical standpoint, I'm not sure how viably SE can track wipes to a boss in a way that would depenalize leaving. And with the vote abandon option, I'm not sure they would want to.

Also... it's a bit harsh but... vote kick passes more easily than vote abandon, and then you can leave without penalty (as long as you do it before a replacement arrives).

This is just as bad cause then you or others like that not being any better then the rest of the group, don't like the group leave and eat the penalty don't contribute to the problem.

Why should I eat a penalty if I'm playing my class the way I'm supposed to and we get nowhere? When a group fails multiple times consistently then the group will never ever proceed, especially if the fault is on more than one player.

Because what you're doing is a reportable offense. If you have no intention continuing, then you're supposed to leave. Roulettes aren't there just for you, they're to help other people. If pubs are such a problem for you then you need to make your own group.

It's people like you that make me want SE to change the penalty from 30 min. to [Dungeon Time - time spent] unless the party votes to abandon. This game does not need more princess healer/tanks acting like they get to choose their Duty Finder dungeon.

Actually I love the 30 minute reprieve after a horrible party. I need every minute to cool down and convince myself that the next party won't suck as bad.

Yup, this. If a party was so bad I actually decided to abandon and eat the penalty, it's a good sign I really ought to go take a stretch break and do something that isn't video game related. Go exercise, go eat a snack, go clean the house, go take a shower, etc. I'll come back refreshed and ready to take the plunge again.

It also greatly lessens the risk you'll roll into DF with one of the people you just dealt with.
