Hunts are bad because you're somehow obligated to wait for everyone.
I'm all in for courtesy but hunts are just that, a hunt. Not wait for the entire server and their mom's, their cats and their first born son 30 mins away from the house to get the mark.
It has gotten so bad when it first released that people literally would run their mouths and make people feel like crap and blacklist and make them want to move servers.
You can't win because it will always be ONE person who won't make it. I say remove hunts entirely or rework the system.
It doesn't help that the dang thing gets blasted in a millisecond. XD
My free company is pretty active. Things have slowed down but that's expected given not everyone runs multiple roles/alts like some of us. I have tons of things to do so in my case at least I'm not bored in the least.
It just a tool but i got the impression its only motivation for you to raid in firstplace, also whats wrong with wearing same items for years? could always glamour if you want diffirent look.
Also if you cant find savage groups as an PLD then lvlup DRK or WAR so you can swap between them, i personally use PLD for A1S(would use DRK here aswell but we are already used to solo-tank strat on faust)and A2S and only swap DRK on A3S. Statics like flexible payers so that might increase you chances to find good group.
PS: Sorry about that git gud part, it was mostly meant for that "lack of progression" part. I know it sucks to hit wall but gitting gud(whole team)is only way to overcome it, should never qive up even if it feels there is no progressing to be made.

Getting a group is more than just finding a group... you make it sound like it is pie, not everyone has an easy time obtaining, holding on to, or getting lucky with pugs. There is your personal experience and then there is others, don't confuse the two. I'm not saying that to be rude, it's just the reality of it.
Example: I personally had no trouble getting a coil party and static and getting clear relatively easy. However; a co-worker of mine didn't clear t5 until the 3rd coil was public, and it wasn't for lack of effort on his part.
Second off gear is a motivation for anyone, "whats wrong with wearing same items for years?" I'll tell you whats wrong. Almost no one, is going to want you if you don't meet the ilvl, or dps, or tank, or healing checks. I mean, unless you are totally content with running 2.0 base content for the rest of your game life which I highly doubt most people aspire to. Maybe I missed a portion of this conversation? Seems more like a hastily conjured, poor attempt at a positively reinforced retort to instill some sort of comfort, or prematurely giving the subsequent response more validity? I don't know, I can only speculate, but it looks strange, no offense. I could easily be reading into it too much.
The cold truth is, in a realistic situation, anyone wearing the same gear for "years" (even "a year") will be shunned in most up to date content, and /roll eyes at trying to help people clear older content - followed by either less than respectful comments or a silent manipulated dismissal of that person.. "why don't you know how to do it!? watch youtube... Git gud...yadda yadda" Ya, sure there is nice people out there, I'll give you that ahead of time. Ones that want to help out. The problem is.... finding them, which all rolls back to my initial point, don't confuse your personal experience in the game for everyone's experience.
Anyway most of this seems like bickering - not helpful advice or on topic. "Switch to this other job" is not a good response ever, especially to one of the same role, if you ever have to say that, that's a design problem.

it doesnt help that Alex savage (normal too) is boring looking , corridor , miniboss to check dps , boss , A2S boring as !$!$ , A3S looks fun still working on it.
something needs to happen , because yeah if u are a DOW/DOM only player , u cap ESO (doing the same boring 2 dungeons) and raid (if u do it ) then what? nothing...
Crafting and gathering are boring as hell, even the ppl that like crafting are burned out already , and while gathering is less grindy in HW , after u hit 60 and start working on blue then red ugh.... i dont know how ppl find crafting in this game fun , is just a huge grind (u need nearly all the crafts at 50 to start crafting in the 1 place) and then u have to get gear and meld it to stand a chance....
Wondering what will happens if DOW/DOM were forced to do the same thing...
This game lacks content for DOW/DOM badly, hope Airship explorations are fun and varied (different islands , mobs , drops ) , and i hope the new gold saucer minigame is really fun and not like chocobo racing (that failed to deliver any fun , outside of using thorns on friends ò.ó )
DOW / DOM rarely even farm mobs for drops or anything because isnt worth, and getting gil as DOW/DOM is "meh" ,usually sell crafting mats to gain some gil since all the dropped gear is untradeable, hard to make a living as DOW/DOM if u arent selling something to DOL/DOH.
outside of relic , there is no grind for DOW/DOM advancement, and thats what make ppl bored.
in FFXI u coul go out and do lots of cotent for drops , or to sell those drops to get gil and buy better gear or glamour gear (BCNMs as prime example)
in wow u could do dungeons timed to get glamour gear , farm mobs to sell drops for gold (or do daily quest for gold too) , or even dungeons (BoE drops)
in FFXIV all the gear sells for nothing 1k the chest lvl 60 that drops in experts, really? i only need 30 more for 1 draco potion HQ...that is crafted 1 by 1 ...u need 2h+ of crafting/gathering to create enough potions for 1 raid night , not even wow vanilla was that bad

I used to do the bi-weekly TT tournament when I could play NPC's and get a plat pack or two. But it did not fit with the game vision that I MUST play other players so they nerfed the points. I no longer play the TT tournaments and have not been back to GS in months.
I used to look forward to Coil because it was something I had not seen before. I could care less about Alex savage. Therefore I really don't need I200 gear so have stopped doing the daily eso grind.
I enjoyed gathering and crafting in ARR. Now it is all gated behind timed nodes and the mat requirements are beyond tedious. Not even going to go into the scrip thing.
I am probably in minority here, but I actually enjoy quests for leveling. I have zero desire to level another job to 60.
I enjoyed gardening in ARR, at present there is zero reason to do this.
My rather small FC hardly logs on so airship stuff is a moot issue, hope 3.1 revives this.
I rather enjoyed the beast tribe stuff, except sylphs, so hopefully this will spark some interest again.
I am sort of looking forward to the new Void Ark, but I hated WOD with a passion, so hope Void Ark will fan the flames of interest in the game again.
The whole "rent-a-retainer" is still a sore point with me and something I have not seen outside a F2P game.
ARR kept me logging in for 2 years, with little complaints except for RNG. Don't know what happened in HW but the thrill is gone. I just hope that 3.1 can save this game for me. I look forward to it with much trepidation.
Oh and Mikhail had some nifty ideas a page or so back.

I have no prayer for that...
FFXIV is widely considered a top 3 MMORPG, often 2nd only to WoW. All of its other "competition" failed miserably. Yoshi isnt perfect, but he clearly knows what hes doing. What you are seeing is not a XIV problem, but a genre problem. MMORPGs are dying. Thats just the way it is.
Once the action MMO gets perfected theyll make a comeback. Perhaps not until VR becomes a household thing. Who knows.
