Then you have not been paying attention, go read the gathering section about favor complaints (the forum section that relates to the system since favors are a gathering not crafting mechanic the game which crafters merely make use of once gathered). People did ask for this and it seems it has pleased quite a few people already who noticed the change which is not surprising since it was asked for.

Reality is SE cannot please everyone, with everyone having different opinions on the things they want to see happen in this game they are bound to please some and displease others but SE did do what some people have been asking for and those people are happier because as gatherers it reduces the amount of time we have to spend farming them. I am a capped gatherer on all gathering classes and farm these sort of nodes, I personally am happy this change was made. It might have a lesser effect on the crafting aspect than the gathering aspect but in terms of gathering which favors are, it is a good change.
