I don't feel TOO strongly because I'm not going to max every craft or anything. But I think crafting is gated enough as is.

It'd only really benefit the uncommon crafting classes anyway. Maybe a alchemist or carpenter specialist could make some money, but a goldsmith wouldn't. Because everyone's a goldsmith.

There will always be price-gougers, but most of them are able to do so not because of being a specialist, but by having easier access to the rare and difficult materials which price most other crafters out of the markets. That'll happen regardless of specialist recipes.
pretty much - I'm 60 in all crafts and still have the specialist quest in my log...because I know specialist is completely pointless right now - give me a reason to turn my quest in and chose!

Innovative Touch already makes being a Specialist worthwhile. Exclusive recipes would be cool, too, though.

I personally think is a fantastic idea. Just hope it's not a silly low ilvl that will have no use in game.

I'm so in with this idea. A few unique pieces per class.

Dear SE: Stop encouraging me to play with other people instead of treating the entire game as a solo endeavor.

    Just stop it.

I was hoping for specialist recipes from the start. I think FFXIV needs choices that distinguish players from one another. Right now, if you're a crafter, there is nothing that separates you from any other crafter out there. In my free company there are three of us who could probably craft you anything you want (at least, before heavensward :P Still working on that new cap), with no difference between us. If specialists got unique recipes, there would actually be specialists.

"You need armor? I'm your man, but this other guy is our Master Blacksmith. No sword I can make can compare to his. And if you need some accessories to round everything off, talk to this girl when she's on! She makes the best stuff."
This is how I think MMOs should always be, with each person bringing something different to the table. FFXIV needs more of that and crafting is a great place to start.

It's like what Aeyis said on page 1. It was a trap. (Well played SE*slow clap*). Make a solo activity more tedious for people with 1 toon while rewarding people that have alts lvled up. Which the red scrips already do.

Well if these unique recipes are important in any way (especially glamour) what make people think buyers won't be price gouged cause now not everybody can be a specialist?

And from SE M.O. lately I wouldn't be surprise if you need 3-5 specialist only mats from crafts that's not your specialist... Please look forward to it...

They need to do this if they want to go through their stated goal of killing omnicrafting.

That was never stated. If so when and where? Also if that was there goal why even let us even level all crafts pass 50?
