To test the unlocks, we'd need a few people to scrap the workshops or find new workshops willing to do stuff For Science (tm)
I'm totally willing to scrap but I'm fairly sure my FC would murder me (and they know where I live lol)

problem is the RNG factror for finding sectors is extreamly high i would guess between 25 and 50% of the equasion thus makeing anylisis of other stats extreamly difficult especialy since each person cant discover 100 sectors in order to provide a large pool of stats.
Please don't. Seriously. It's unlikely to give any good data anyway - RNG is a proven factor, so one datapoint tells us almost nothing.
Knowing the way things are generally done in this game, I expect each stat to do one specific thing. This game's systems tend to be pretty streamlined in that regard. I expect:I suspect the overall rating is not tied to any one stat, that it's either how well you rolled on the totally random chance rolls (weather/retrieval/rarity) or your stats vs the sector's star rating.
- Survey reduces survey times (base survey time per sector visited is fixed based on rating, then reduced by Survey - going to verify this soon)
- Speed reduces travel times (formula is based on Speed stat and total Distance between all sectors, excluding any Survey time)
- Range allows you to visit more sectors that are further away (Range must be greater than or equal to the total travel distance + 13*(# sectors visited)
- Retrieval does something involving the amount of items you get (May not be related to ratings - may be that random ratings modify the base amount, and the base amount is determined by Retrieval stat)
- Favor gives you more bonus experience (higher per-sector ratings)
I don't know what determines if you can get a second item, but I don't think it's Survey. That's next on my list to investigate...

Actually, its very simple. When you scroll over a sector, you see on the right side a Distance number and a Survey number. You need to have enough Range to meet both in order to go visit.
When the airships get back tomorrow morning I'll be able to provide actual numbers for what I mean.
Ok .. using the Bad Penny as an example ...Actually, its very simple. When you scroll over a sector, you see on the right side a Distance number and a Survey number. You need to have enough Range to meet both in order to go visit.

Surveillance : 90
Retrieval : 94
Speed : 76
Range : 94
Favor : 90
Now, because the Range is 94, that is the Flight Distance when I go to Deploy Airship. On the right half of the Deploy Airship window, you see several bits of information, Name of the Area, Time to Destination, Time to Survey, Distance to Destination, Distance to Survey, Conditions, and the map.
The Distance to Destination, and Distance to Survey, are what are important. You have to have the Range for BOTH of those to be able to go there.
Sector 10 : 19 Distance to Destination, 13 Distance to Survey. That totals 32 ... as noted in game by seeing the Flight Distance go from 0/94 to 32/94.
If I opt to go to Sector 11 from there, that would be 28 Distance and 13 Survey, or 41 more Range required. I've got that, bringing the ship's Flight Distance to 73/94 ... and only enough Range left to visit Sector 06 (8 Distance, 13 Survey, would bring me to 94/94 Flight Distance).
Selecting other Sectors as starting points works the same way.
