You stated it was the equivalent of Balance/Arrow. I stated you were correct in stating Arrow but that it was not actually the same as Balance. I took your post as literal, but I guess you were not being literal.
Let me explain then. "Dps" means "damage per second". It doesn't mean how much damage you do per attack, but how much damage is done over a period of time, and then averaged out to how much damage output is going out per second. This is the universal measurement of damage due to the fact that many classes do damage differently. MNKs and NINs attack quickly, BLMs and DRGs do big hits, SMNs add on a bunch of DoTs that do a little dmg but all add up, etc. So we use "dps" to compare them and figure out who stands where.
So for example, you have two dps classes. One does 100 damage every 5 seconds, while the other does 20 damage every one second. They both are doing 100 dps, because by the 5 second mark the second dps will have done 5 hits, equalling 100 damage.
Balance, arrow, and fey wind all contribute to the groups (or a single persons) dps. It happens in different ways, but to the same end. Which was what my original point was way back in the beginning.
Oh, thank you so much for explaining what DPS means. What would I have ever done without you to guide me?
I'm going to keep my word this time and walk away from conversing with you, before I say something that will get me banned.
