Astrologian Hate!?

So, I really thought some of the hate would die down after an astro was in SOME of the WORLD first alex savage clears. But that did nothing sadly. I still get told quite often everywhere that AST is a "bad" class. That I shouldn't run Alex savage as an ast because I won't be able to keep up with the damage etc.

Personally, my only complaint is the lack of reliable MP recovery. So having to hold any ewer cards I get can be a tad irritating. Aside from that, between time dilation, Collective unconscious, and Celestial opposition I think ast is a bit OP to be fair. Sure, I can't toss around 14k heals like a whm, but I can still heal none the less.

The class is NOT bad. But it seems like a decent percentage of the players who play it are. For the ones who are geared at 60, and still "hate" astro.....do me a favour. GTFO my class. You give me a bad rep.

AST is viable. Doesn't mean it's good. When compared with SCH and/or WHM, the class IS bad.

There have been may requests regarding Astrologian's card system.

Y: I think the players' comments on the random factor are completely on point. However, the Astrologian's cards have the power to increase the party's strength as a whole. If they also had the same heal output as a White Mage or Scholar, then those two jobs would have nothing to offer to match the increase in party power. The two problems we are focusing on are the unreliability of the cards' RNG and Astrologian's lack of healing output compared to the other two jobs, however a single misstep could end up making the job overpowered, which is why this is taking so long. We apologize for making you all wait.

Would agree whole heartily. I actually love the class and enjoyed it from 30 to 60, I still love the class. However it becomes painfully obvious when you hit AS1 just how much more stress you put on the other healer in the group. I am curious though on the changes they have in mind for the class, and what we will see in the upcoming patches. Sounds like our voices have been heard but the process of changing the job will take time.

When the healers of the most skilled teams in the world basically say that the job is in a very bad position you can no longer ignore the issue I guess. Unfortunately, people won't realize how weak ast is until they level the other healers up to lvl 60 and that is something many people don't have the time to do, so they rather blindly defend their job. At least a quick check of the lodestone profile is enough to determine whether or not these players are to be taken seriously.

It's irritating to be told "no" just because of my class. I did main sch from ARR launch till heavensward. It's a great class overall. Whm I never have and never will play. I unlocked it once and hate the playstyle, so yea. /meh.

Anyway, people excluding you just because you're an AST are just ignorant...unless you're going for alex savage. AST can easily clear all content up to ravana ex. Alexander savage is a different topic. It can be done, but whm/sch is much safer and more effective.

I have only ever gotten whm to 34 on one toon, and I simply despise it. It's all straight heals and absolutely no utility for the party. Aside from eye for an eye they really don't get much damage mitigation. Stoneskin, but everyone gets that. The whm in my static does 14k crits heals like candy. but thats about all he has. It feels off to me. I don't enjoy it, I don't play it. When did leveling "all three healers" become a requisite?

AST is fun, yes. AST is viable, yes. AST needs some vast improvements to be on par with the other two healers.

While everyone is completely entitled to their opinion on the job, the majority of the population agrees that it needs help. I see your AST is not very highly geared. I also see that you don't have WHM or SCH leveled to 60. So, you telling other people to "GTFO," is quite amusing.
