You can't just use a trickle down policy? Even if you play multiple classes, why do they all need to be in the best gear immediately?I play only one job so I don't care, but this idea is not that bad and people are suggesting it for long time already.
Why are you able to have all classes when you can properly gear up only one. People in static cannot be even flexible with this system. Imagine having BRD geared with alex savage and eso items, I doubt you would want to roll over to healer and gear it up again from 0 for your static.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
When you are raiding savage (or even cob back then) you cannot reroll your job when you want, because you would just be undergeared (untill they get rid of caps) and would have to stop raiding for some time. Separate caps for jobs would let you reroll immediately (in case you kept gearing them too). For dungeon goers there would be probably zero concern in this, for raiders and such it would be nice improvement.
This has been my policy going in Heavensward.
WAR - i188 = ESO gear onry.
BRD/MCH - i181 = Law gear onry (Alex drops go here when the WAR doesn't require that slot, like belt/chest for example)
And when i finally get my Monk to cap, it will be using Law Gear also ... With Alex gear trickling in from unrequired slots on the other Jobs.
Its a real shame people cant get their heads around the concept of 1 Main Job with Supplemental Jobs. most likely because they're used to other titles where being a different class meant logging in on a whole new character.
And even then, speaking as someone who had 17 level capped characters during Wrath of the Lich King, Gearing them all up to the current best was a freaking nightmare. At best, i had 1 class that had amazing gear, 2 classes that were in good gear and then all the others were still in quest gear because there isn't enough time in a week to cap all the currencies and do all the raids ...
This is exactly how I play and works pretty well. One job gets eso tome gear, the others get law/alex gear. Even the ones that get law/alex gear are still equipped well enough to do all the content anyways. Its a real shame people cant get their heads around the concept of 1 Main Job with Supplemental Jobs. most likely because they're used to other titles where being a different class meant logging in on a whole new character.

Uh huh, except the problem is clear with Astrologian for example. People in raid statics who wanted to main Astrologian can't because they realize their other healer job is more reliable were forced to gear up the other healer job they don't want to.I had to spend eso on my WHM when I wanted to gear AST. It was either that or leave the static. Now when AST gets fixed all those eso tomes will have gone to waste and I will have to regear my AST from zero. The only thing that keeps me sane is that the healing gear I'm *slowly* getting from Savage is gearing my AST as well, but the eso I spent on WHM is already gone with no way to bring it back, that could've gone to my AST already so I could use remaining eso on my other 2 jobs that I love to play too even if they are my "secondaries". Just because I can't gear them up at the same rate doesn't mean I like them less than my "main".
Sometimes people can't make it for raids and god it would be so much help to be able to have more flexibility and switch from my healer to DPS because it's happened many times before, where pickup DPS are not reliable 100% of the time but we have healers who could take my spot instead, reliably. Except I can't switch because my DPS jobs are not geared up enough for the raid, which is frustrating.
The "people need a cap or they would get bored and unsub" is no offense, a completely stupid argument like others have said before. Want to make clear that I am not talking about uncapping per character, but per job. The cap is "okay" but making it per character is kind of painful. Making it per job would alievate. If the gating is the only reason that keeps people from unsubbing then there is an obvious problem with the game itself. Gating progress on both 2 end game armor (savage and eso, and to an extent, I guess, normal mode alex) is in my opinion completely unfair to the people that want to play more than 2 hours a day and progress on their own pace. I would understand if there was more endgame content we could play and even if that was gated at least we'd have more ways to gear up slots, but right now we don't have many options and the only 2 options we have are gated. There needs to be a balance for both sides of the spectrum.

I wasn't doing what I was told, I chose to do it because it's clear it was putting a strain on our progression. I decided to be selfless, not selfish. It's not their fault nor mine AST is the way it is. If Eso had been capped per job, that would've fixed this instantly.
Also, they did let me try AST but it was clear the group was not adjusting to it. Trying to find a new static? No thanks, I've been running with these guys since 2.0 and we are a solid group plus the time schedule works for me.
Finding a new static is not the way to fix AST nor everything I have mentioned before about secondaries.
And by the way yes, *some* ASTs have cleared first 2 savage floors but then again they realized how AST lags behind and were suggested to switch to another healer job from what I've read. I wouldn't say plenty.
