One thing I never understood (I main WHM but have PLD @50 leftover from ARR), is why do dps intentionally sabotage themselves at times by pulling stuff like this? I mean, I did my time waiting in dps queue on BRD and NIN, and unless the tank was god awful - almost bot awful - I'd grin and bear it to get the thing done. It is almost like they get into a duty and forget the amount of time they've waited or, even worse, berate or don't play as a team even when almost done, potentially being kicked before even finishing. Just... think before you act, and act as you'd like people to act towards you.

I just stopped tanking DF for the most part, I run with friends and with my FC. If I'm desperate and *reaaaaally* need the Esos I'll tank a DF but I haven't had to do that since a week after the patch.

When i'm on my healer in low level zones I just pull if the tank pulls too slow since it teaches him a lesson about fear. If he can't hold aggro it teaches him to get better. It is a lesson most tanks need to learn, so many are so afraid to pull these days and it can get boring. It also teaches bad healers to actually heal and not sit and wait like 99% seem to do. Better to nip that bud when they are youngins.

If a tank stops, you kick him. He will needs to learn that if someone tanks better then he should be DPSing.

Adaptability is a skill many people need to learn, you should not have to see a video to learn very simple mechanics of fights. The hardest dungeon right now is Aurum Vale, that is the only dungeon out of any Non-Savage, Non-Coil Raid I recommend saying. Everything else is simple and you can learn easily just by watching.

Unfortunately MMOs these days are Solo-Friendly games where you can pop in a duty finder and never have to talk to anyone again. There are no contested zones and no content your fighting and racing for. So you are not encouraged to rush and press forward but take your time, which to me is the reason MMOs are so boring these days. Fighting for content and racing are cut-out of every modern MMO, and the best players are the ones who remember the old times. =P

I wonder would people be on the side of a DPS who refused to enter a boss fight because they were explaining something to another DPS. Especially if the fight had a DPS check.

You do realize we're playing a game right? We're not in the army here. :P

    Op I feel your pain.

In A4 there were two new people that stated they didn't know strat. I started to explain while the other tank did a ready check. I told him not to pull because if they don't know about adds we WILL wipe.
He pulled anyway, we wiped to adds and I told him that he just wasted everyone's time by doing that.
    I was kicked.

    I don't understand it either...

I've done a lot of runs lately, where I'm tanking the bosses(I'm MNK) all the time, unless I completely stop attacking for long periods of time... It's really annoying, and it shouldn't happen(even if they have slightly worse gear). But I'm not gonna try to kick them or anything... That's just a douche bag thing to do, and I would have to wait for a new tank then.

Unless those 2 players got lucky, they would have to wait longer than it would have taken to just let the tank explain the tactics to the newcomer.

Kick should be left to a*sholes and nobody else. I can count how many times I've initiated a kick, on one hand... and haven't voted to kick many either. Players like those 2, are examples of who should get kicked.

The kick system is getting abused a lot, but I can't really come up with a solution for it either... It's needed for other cases, so can't exactly remove it.

Personally, I have found that the DF players have gotten even more rude and "go Go GO!" than before. I don't know if its from all the new and returning players trying to rush content or if there is something else at play, although I have my suspicions.

Before the expansion, I would get some rude players but it tended to be far and few between, now I pretty much expect it on most runs.

For example, when I zone into the instance I just say a quick "hello" in /p, nothing more nothing less. Recently I am immediately being responded to with a "shut up and do your role, just tank stuff" or "don't talk, just tank".

Seriously, there is no excuse for acting like that, particularly right off the bat.

I don't think you're teaching anyone the lessons you think you're teaching at low level. Some people just need time to become familiar with their toolkit, and that's typically easier to do when they're in control of the environment. Just because their class is capable of tanking multiple packs doesn't mean they're comfortable with it, especially while they're still leveling their class. You know what you're getting into when you roll low level roulette, stop getting your kicks from playing "teacher" and just play your role.
