Then you come screaming on the forums that the game is dead.

This is a social game designed to try and appease everyone. Just....deal with it or move on.
But doesn't that work both ways?

Maybe some people want to play with others that actually know the very basics from their job?

Or do these people not count with "everyone"?

Also, the blame here is on SE for making this kind of content in the first place. The players that actually want to clear it are the ones seeing the issue and just speaking out.

For some reason asians like mysteries, i mean look at our stats they are just rating numbers when percentages would have been much more simple to understand(600 crit umm ok i guess its alot VS your crit chance is now 25%), yet tank stances have acc as an % so how much that 5% is when converted to rating 100/200? i have no idea honestly.

But no one would like to play football with a kid that plays it with their hands instead of their feet. That's closer to the truth than skill level, if they would just look up what football is they would stop playing with their hands and probably do much better.

Also the lock wouldn't be for the 10%, it would be at the level needed to beat the content, for current Alex I would say around 1k DPS for most DPS, less for BRD/MCH as this is more or less the lowest acceptable DPS to beat the fights and if you can't be over it you have no reason at all to be in Alex as you will be the reason it fails over and over again. Depending on class 1000 DPS is easily reachable by spending 30 min reading about the class and 1-2 hours practicing.

People will probably disagree with me on this but I wish DPS was easier to execute while the world was harder.

FFXIV seems to have a ludicrous number of buttons for each class. Mine doesn't have many but when you lump in Leylines, Sharpcast and Raging Strikes it's juuuust reaching that point where I squint a bit.

It SEEMS to me like this game has ridiculous active rotations (with no skill speed a DRG rotation takes what? An entire minute?) AND DPS check style bosses that require comfortable execution of these rotations. Maybe not everyone is physically up for that. I have small hands and advanced carpal tunnel so I can barely scrape by.

Compare to WoW. There, because the rotations were simple the difficulty lay in the encounters themselves. This gives that game what I feel is phenomenal raiding. Say what you will about World of WarCraft this is one thing (maybe THE one thing) that game has always gotten right.

I haven't seen any encounters in FFXIV that quite compare to WoW's.

    Some examples:

    Yogg Saron
    Hans'gar and Franzok
    Alysrazor

Now I'm not saying I want FFXIV to become WoW because honestly everything in that game outside combat and raiding is an unmitigated disaster at this point (and even combat is probably OVER simplified as of WoD) but if the team is going to draw inspiration from WoW, why not from the one part of it that is universally praised?

You are 100% wrong, everything else you mention is total crap and is often times non existent. A large population of DPS players are horrible cant do mechanics and cant dps either. When A1-4 came out the amount of times i wiped on a1 and a4 was retarded because in those fights dps needs to do mechanics. I was doing bis ex and had dps in the party doing 200 dps. WTF auto attack does more than that.

I'm seconding Ayuhra. The only reason I didn't mention WoW's balance before was that it's been so long I wasn't sure if my memory was accurate, but apparently it is. WoW's rotations were less complex than Final Fantasy XIV's, and we didn't have a total crisis with DD in that game like we do here. Bad DD did exist, but they were an exception rather than the norm. Usually it was boss experience we were looking for more so than class competency.

The problem is casuals think they can do it and join a party with people above their skill level.

You could also carry a few bad dps in WOW a lot of the times in ffxiv that is not the case.

My thoughts exactly. I know of a couple DPS players who are now tanks or healers because they felt they were doing good as a DPS but were told otherwise. It'd be funny if a huge chunk of the DPS community re-rolled as a tank or healer, then we would still lack the DPS to clear the DPS checks lol...
