People will probably disagree with me on this but I wish DPS was easier to execute while the world was harder.

FFXIV seems to have a ludicrous number of buttons for each class. Mine doesn't have many but when you lump in Leylines, Sharpcast and Raging Strikes it's juuuust reaching that point where I squint a bit.

It SEEMS to me like this game has ridiculous active rotations (with no skill speed a DRG rotation takes what? An entire minute?) AND DPS check style bosses that require comfortable execution of these rotations. Maybe not everyone is physically up for that. I have small hands and advanced carpal tunnel so I can barely scrape by.

Compare to WoW. There, because the rotations were simple the difficulty lay in the encounters themselves. This gives that game what I feel is phenomenal raiding. Say what you will about World of WarCraft this is one thing (maybe THE one thing) that game has always gotten right.

I haven't seen any encounters in FFXIV that quite compare to WoW's.

    Some examples:

    Yogg Saron
    Hans'gar and Franzok
    Alysrazor

Now I'm not saying I want FFXIV to become WoW because honestly everything in that game outside combat and raiding is an unmitigated disaster at this point (and even combat is probably OVER simplified as of WoD) but if the team is going to draw inspiration from WoW, why not from the one part of it that is universally praised?
