and if someone goes on a 5 day vacation?

It's a choice that we have to make. Do I want to spend 30min to gather tomes today or do X instead? Just like everything, we have to make choices and pick something over the other. But that assumes you're going to be doing the same thing every day. Some days people may have other plans and not be in game. Other days they may be playing but want to work on their crafting, or leveling an alt class, or farming MGP though Triple Triad games, and so on. The problem with dailies is that it punishes you for wanting to vary your routine and do other things. With an allowance type of system, whichever goal you're not working on today you can catch up with tomorrow or a few days from now.

Not just that. My friends in the military often go on rotation 7~10 days a stretch, meaning combat readiness. When missions clash, like a readiness rotation plus simulation exercises plus other shitty things that just happen in the military, they could be required to stay for up to 20 days a stretch. Heck my record was 21 days without taking even one step outside of our position.
Some people just can't understand that the world doesn't all do the EZPZ officer worker schedule. "I have it easy so everyone must have it easy." Sad attitude.
