    Weekly cap vs accumulative cap

Hello! I\\'m sure it\\'s been discussed before, but playing this game the biggest issue I have is the weekly cap, back when I played FFXI and 1.0 I had time to do all of these things, but now when I work full time and classes Etc one week I may have more time than another. I was simply wondering why we can\\'t have an accumulative tome system where like, if you cap the first week 450/450, you would go into the next week 450/900... Or if you go 300/450, next week you\\'re 300/900? This way people who didn\\'t have time to cap or started late such as players who started with HW; have time to catch up ^_^ I guess I don\\'t have many arguments for it, I just ask why not? Sounds convenient without bothering people?

    Thanks!

Spend 30 min a day doing Ex Roulette and you'll cap before the week is over. I'm sure you atleast got that much of free time per day. If not, I'd say you are working too hard and need more time for yourself. Not healthy overworking.

Edit: I know queues play it's role here. But we have to remember that not everyone can be on the same page. Some will always fall behind due to different causes. It's just the way life is.

So sort of like the way leve allowances work? You get a few chances added each day, and they accumulate up to some (significantly higher) maximum? That pattern does give a lot more flexibility to choose whether you want to do a little each day or wait a while and then grind out a bunch at once.

The cap would probably need to be measured in terms of an allowance, then, a number which gets added to at the daily "reset" when you get more allowance but subtracted from whenever you earn the tomes, and you can't earn any more when it's zero. So for your 300/450 example, that first week when you earn 300, your allowance would drop from 450 to 150, and then the next week start at 600 (if another 450 got added to your existing 150).

But that assumes you're going to be doing the same thing every day. Some days people may have other plans and not be in game. Other days they may be playing but want to work on their crafting, or leveling an alt class, or farming MGP though Triple Triad games, and so on. The problem with dailies is that it punishes you for wanting to vary your routine and do other things. With an allowance type of system, whichever goal you're not working on today you can catch up with tomorrow or a few days from now.

I had this exact thought today as a better method of obtaining red scrips (the system is a total shambles and every crafter + gatherer I know hates it). The advantage of the leve style system is that a player would be able to take a break for 16 days and still not miss any potential gains (assuming 6 leves per 24 hours and a cap of 100 leves). The current form of gating and capping is just horrible because players can feel left behind and missing a few days or a week, can be a big difference if you like to compete as a crafter with others on your server. This also allows the devs to gate content, but in a way that doesn't feel so restricted or make players feel they need to burn through all their caps each week just to be able to compete. The same thing could be said for any capped currency. Not that SE will change the system even when someone offers a good alternative.

It's a choice that we have to make. Do I want to spend 30min to gather tomes today or do X instead? Just like everything, we have to make choices and pick something over the other.

Not just that. My friends in the military often go on rotation 7~10 days a stretch, meaning combat readiness. When missions clash, like a readiness rotation plus simulation exercises plus other shitty things that just happen in the military, they could be required to stay for up to 20 days a stretch. Heck my record was 21 days without taking even one step outside of our position.

Some people just can't understand that the world doesn't all do the EZPZ officer worker schedule. "I have it easy so everyone must have it easy." Sad attitude.
