I dont see whats so bad about it. I dont play MCH but I dont think id mind it if I did. Could be better I suppose but not something id call "dumb as hell." Its a piece of tech looking addon to the gun, which fits the MCH's theme quite well. Maybe its just perspective since BRDs get... nothing. Play a song... now it takes 1.5 seconds to look for an arrow while you *hiss* for some reason. Dont even get me started on Iron Jaws.

I don't mind the attachment piece, but the animations during GB are ridiculous. Looks like I'm some little girl waving a baton around instead of a machinist firing a gun.
It would have been nice to at least have different GB models and fanny packs for something like primal guns or af guns. Bards get matching quivers, we have the exact same fanny packet and mismatching GB

Sounds like the issue you have with MCH Job storyline is that you're no longer a special snowflake of the group. I enjoy the MCH Job story because it moves away from the "You're the most talent member of the Group" mentality that the other class/Job storyline seem to focus a part on in their Job storyline. It set the tone that the WoL is still a disciple learning about the Job and is helping build up the Machinist Job as fellow Machinist. Beyond being a WoL he or she is not special beyond their WoL powers and statues but is still a person like the rest of the Machinist Team.
Edit: Wait, someone enjoyed the MCH questline? It was literally the worst job/class questline I've seen. It was boring and predictable as all hell.
Further, the entire argument that MCH puts brains entirely over brawn is purely a problem with the fact that MCH doesn't have a Class, and just a Job. Rogues are dashing chaotic good types, and they go into great detail about why they use knives compared to other weapons. You learn about most DoW's through their classes, that's where their martial capability comes from. Imagine if NIN never had the ROG questline, you'd never learn anything about their dagger-play, it would just be the ninjutsu.
That's the problem with MCH. There's some minor lip-service that a pirate taught you how to hold a gun, but that's really, really, really, lame. Every other job/class quest has the player be someone special. The MCH questline sort of has you as the best assistant to a guy that barely demonstrates he knows what he is doing. Him and his prospectometer can go screw themselves.
Other Job story are fine but it starts to feel lacking when every other class/Job seems to place the WoL as the special snowflake of the class/guild.

While not my favorite, I enjoyed the MCH questline well enough. There was less focus on the WoL, sure, but honestly I've gotten a bit sick of being the wunderkind in every flippin' thing I try to do.
To me, the MCH questline was about classism in Ishgard not about being a brilliant savant gun-wizard (that honor goes to Joye). I loved the villian, who comes across as a smug, arrogant, classist bastard (and he IS one), but who is actually clever enough to realize that even if the guns are effective enough that even the grimiest of peasants can use them effectively against dragons, those same grimy peasants can also use them effectively against nobles and the knights who are working so hard to keep them grimy. The MCN guildmaster, on the other hand, is kind of an idealistic dope and doesn't see the wider picture as to just what sort of ugliness is likely to follow once the dragons are gone, and the oppressed citizens are still packin' heat.
It ties nicely into the Main Scenario with Hilda - one such grimy peasant whom you'll notice is a gun-wielder herself...
I think that is just the MCH guildmasters main issue when he is trying to be a leader. Yes without him the Machinist would not have become a DoW Job and remained a crafter Job but still his ideals to spread the use of Machinist talents often does blind him sometimes which other NPCs have stated as well and some even said so right at his face in the MCH Job storyline. The MCN guildmaster, on the other hand, is kind of an idealistic dope and doesn't see the wider picture as to just what sort of ugliness is likely to follow once the dragons are gone, and the oppressed citizens are still packin' heat.

Guess the only thing we can do is hope for some character development in future MCH Job storyline with him before SE decides to have reality hit him in the future MCH Job storyline as SE's way to making him start Character developing.

Let's ignore the fact that the GM doesn't even right click with a gun ranged attack, but a goddamn melee wrench attack. All we can do with that is dismantle their physical damage :lI think that is just the MCH guildmasters main issue when he is trying to be a leader.
