Well Gauss barrel is not actually a Gun Barrel.
It does enhance the bullet being fired out of the gun but it seems to act like a Drone that only hovers over the Gun Barrel.
Something about the Bullet going through the Gauss Barrel hole with the Hole enhancing the force of the bullets velocity and impact with some kind of charge.
yes, but the lore doesn't stop it from looking dumb as hell.Well Gauss barrel is not actually a Gun Barrel.

Well I've heard rumors Gauss Barrel was originally going to be unique on each Gun to suit their appearance but that is just a rumor I heard.
If the rumor is true then they may have designed Gauss Barrel to be like this now due to the developers needing to constantly make a new Barrel Design on every each current gun and future guns if they kept the old plan.
Though it would be nice if SE would give the players the option to hide the Gauss Barrel when it is active.

Oh is that what that is? I always thought it was a specific weapon model and was curious which one it was. I think it looks pretty cool personally, but I also don't play mch.
You have got to be kidding me -_-
Everytime I see anything to do with MCH aesthetics (which can be a large part of picking a job) it just looks awful. Look at all the awesome stuff every other job gets and MCH gets pot-shots, slight effects and disjointed weapons... I mean really there is just no excuse for it.
Seriously debating just going SMN... Shame was looking forward to MCH.
Animations and aesthetics I doubt are something that will get changed unfortunatly, I mean BRD has been pretty disjointed for 2 years now.

unique gauss barrel models (for green/blue/relic weapons at the very least) is on my long term wishlist, but right now it would be great if it attached closer to the model on guns with shorter barrels.Well I've heard rumors Gauss Barrel was originally going to be unique on each Gun to suit their appearance but that is just a rumor I heard.

i agree it looks cool, but not when it's 20ft infront of the gun
Gauss Barrell or:
Electromagnetic speed modifier for a bullet. Aside the point that putting a magnetic enhancer in front of a gun when the bullet is shot initially by a gunpowder blast does not make sense at all (since a gauss barrell is usually a type of gun for itself) it may look strange but if it was put directly on the gun the whole barrel would get magnetized :x
I never thought of the gap as too bad and the enhancing system actually looks cool, but then the gun model i use only has 1/3 of the gap your gun has so it might've never struck me as "too far from the barrel" x.x
But then theres the problem with the dual barrel weapons too - the single barrel of the Gauss enhancer does not line up with them because its made for single barrel guns, which would practically mean you destroy it with the first shot you take
but meh, Games with Magic and Logic xD
