Personally went for the body first since I didn't have all the shafts for the i190 one.

If you have the Hive weapon, first eso purchase could go either way. If you don't have the Hive weapon, I'd definitely get the eso book first despite its less attractive secondaries.

I agree with that, it depend where you start.
If you have the Gogyo Sosei Kai and go for the Antiquated Elements, then you have a huge boost in stat.
But if you start from the Hive book then the boost is not good (and you lose so much in crit)

The eso book is good if yours is 170 or 180
Otherwise, if you have the Hive weapon go for the Body then Hat

I'm confused why you say the boost is minimal. The weapon damage upgrade is pretty significant even over the loss of crit. Especially if she's expected to dps in savage as scholar.

Well if you have the Hive it is +2 weapons damage and +9 mind, and If you have the 180 chest it is +15 mind. It's fairly close. Also when you factor in the crit on the weapon you get to keep (although you are going to lose it no matter what eventually, until relic) and the slight defense boost of the chest make the chest a decent first buy.

Also @ckc22 the gordian legs have 94 crit on them and wil be bis, so if you recommend buying order I would consider that.

You're looking at 16+9=25 mind versus +15 mind from the chest, assuming 1 wd=8 mind.
The numbers are actually higher if you go by the strat weights others are throwing out of 20+9=29 with 1 point wd=10 mind. Personally I find that more significant than the crit you lose.

It is interesting, you are the only person who mentions the legs. I think there are 100 of these threads on reddit all asking about the chest but not legs. They will be bis which makes me wonder how many of these threads are asthetically driven.

Almost all of them, you can just tell that progressing in Alexander Savage isn't on their priority lists from just reading their comments.

First off wd is estimated at close to 10 of a primary stat so the weapon is almost double the chest piece.

Second I included a qualifier that said assuming no alex gear - obviously obtaining BiS by mixing and matching with savage gear will change things up a bit but it's too individualized to fit in the context of what my post was trying to get at.

My mistake, I did not see the part about no savage drops. And I did not hear that wd was being estimated at close to ten. Between that and what ss I am curious to find out more about our stat weights.

That's based off of the DRG estimate. BLM/SMN and WHM/AST/SCH have a much lower weapon weight, because we don't derive damage from our autoattacks in the way that physical classes do. This, in turn, drives the value of secondary stats up, which is why we're having this discussion.
