It would make more sense to make those changes now, rather than a month and a half down the road when people have invested more time into the current system. You create a bigger rift in the system the longer you wait.
When ARR was released crafters and gatherers complained about how they couldn't make money because there was too much competition. SE's answer to this "problem" has been adding grinds to crafting/gathering and making mats rare to drive people away from these activities to limit supply and drive up prices.
...slave work...
Say hello to a common asia grinder!
FFXIV becomes more and more a game made only for asian/korean players...
I only been capping/buying scrips to turn in for favors....are you telling me now that this coming reset ill be 33 hours behind....just running around chasings nodes?
Some1 tell me this is a joke, just cappig is already time consuming + raid time/eso cap.
You can either go for scrips gear (I currently have two fisher and two goldsmith gear pieces myself)... Or you can save the rowena's tokens until some day later when things may have changed.
If you feel that you don't need the new crafted gear for anything, why work so hard to do favors and craft this gear now?
Why not save the tokens for the future?
Or is it the fear that you'll be behind the day they do change more, and/or the crafted gear becomes relevant?
Crafting is relevant today.
Maybe you can't craft something so people can skip esoterics/savage gear, but you shouldn't be able to craft such gear to begin with.
Anyone that wants good gear while levelling is going to look for crafted gear for the slots they don't yet have dungeon gear of a suitable level. While there are also plenty of people that don't give a damn and use zenith/i90 gear for Dusk Vigil, there's also people that want to use better gear than that.
"Crafting is irrelevant" has been a constant complaint from endgame crafters since 2.0, yet they somehow managed to make hundreds of millions of gil with that irrelevant crafting...

33.75 hours to be exact to use 3 weeks worth of favors.
yet here we are....this poor alchemists making 1 draconian potion at time, 30 mins crafting (+ who knows farming mats) to burn them all in 2h of raiding.....overpriced as hell because are annoying to craft ,and no1 buys because paying that much for a consumable is asinine....When ARR was released crafters and gatherers complained about how they couldn't make money because there was too much competition. same goes for some HQ food....
i remember when in other games u farmed for 5h , to enjoy 1h , that drove ppl away from that game , because is stupid.....paying hard earned money every month to grind ,farm ,craft , and then finally being able to enjoy the game....?
Crafting is supposed to be a fun addition and ppl need to enjoy doing it....
SE need to RE-LEARN....
