Looking around my FC's ward, 30 houses, 20S/7M/3L, that's a potential 43 gardens. Anyone want to guess how many have plants in them?

2, and one was a 6 bed garden with 2 plants in it

Either nobody wants to garden, or the leaders are being dicks and not letting anyone garden.

Or they are busy with Heavensward or maybe not active right know. I only now that my old FC always had plants out and most of them where from one or two players. In the end gardening is one point that could be problematic for members there are many more with were written in this thread. It may also depend on your own experience. if you have no problems with your FC than this might not be so bad. But sadly people can change over time and a FC which was once a happy place can turn bad fast. And if that happens and you put a lot of work and money into the FC house than it will really hurt to loose it all.

Or they realized that they were burning through 300-500k worth of stuff per bed per week for a marginal gain or loss, to grow items that nobody wants. What do you really get from gardening?

1 - choco food/dyes (thav onions aren't worth growing since they gave everybody 2 free ones in HW)
2 - crafting mats for year old glamour/furniture recipes
3 - junk to sell to a NPC

@StouterTaru Okay, just because you don't need or want other people to have access to housing, doesn't mean others should be barred from it. As a FC leader, I'm not going to give some bean sprout unlimited access to our company house. I'm also not going to give access to anyone I don't know very well. As it stands, the top four ranks have access to it. Since I run a rather small company, anyone who asks to use the garden gets complete and sole access to it. I do not see this being feasible with more than 30+ members. I have had to kick someone who had a room; they were rude and disrespectful to other members, so I had to remove them. So no, a person doesn't have 100% control even of their own room. Personal housing is a player luxury and any player who can afford it should be able to purchase it. This issue, again, falls on SE, and not the players.

"people don't really use the gardens" isn't really a good argument for locking people out of content. Chances are they finished with what they needed to grow or are busy with HW.

I want to dye my chocobo white but I can't find any of the foods for it on the marketplace. I can't garden at my FC's house. Guess I'll have to find someone with a garden to grow them for me? If they could at least give us pots or something for inside our rooms, that would be okay I guess.

You can make custom ranks, they don't have to be FC leader to garden.

Just because you don't want random strangers in your FC doesn't mean the dozen FCs shouting for members and advertising a FC house feel the same way. There are options.

It isn't. I'm someone who wants a house but my server is filled with plots that are either empty or the owner never even logs on again.
As a housing lover, I feel confined in my FC room. I don't even think about gardening right now because I don't even know whenever another FC member has plans with it. While I love my FC and all, I do long after a place of my own.


The system might be horrible but I enjoy decorating stuff. At least here the houses look unique and the walls can be changed. This wasn't in other games I've played. My only chance, except for paying Gil that I can't even amass, is the expansion of the wards. My little FC room that barely has any customization available to it just won't cut it for someone who likes messing around with housing. In fact, it's that bad that my FC room looks like a freaking apartment rather than a normal room.

Please don't go telling people if they want housing, they have to join a FC. That just doesn't cut it. It doesn't even give you the full experience of what there is to experience. The only customization that you have, next to the furniture, are the floor, wallpaper and ceiling lights. Now that is totally the full experience, don't you think?

Like I said, random people aren't entitled to decorating privileges. People can take expensive furniture that doesn't break when removed, they can throw out your stuff simply because they have different taste. So no, a FC house IS NOT THE SAME AS HAVING YOUR OWN HOUSE. I never said I don't want strangers in my company; your inability to use reading comprehension is astounding. I said I do not want strangers having the ability to mess with the FC house decor. They can come in, they can use the house for RP if needed, I don't really care. Again, just because /you/ do not care for something doesn't mean other people shouldn't. If you don't want a house, don't get one. But no one else should be barred from it because of your own opinions. Joining a fc that has a house is NOT THE SAME as personal housing. A private room is NOT THE SAME as personal housing. Would you like me to repeat this in Japanese, Spanish, French, or Deutsche?

JMHO: How about a simple requirement that a house owner needs to visit their house once every 3 months. That would show (some) interest in keeping it and allow those plots that have been abandoned to go back on the market. It's not an onerous requirement and would keep a limited number of plots on the market every 3 months.

Reading comprehension right back at you, I never said it was the same. I was responding to the notion that personal housing features are unavailable to people, which they are not. You have access to these features by joining one of the FCs shout recruiting every day.

What you really want is the limited edition Barbie's dream house glamour. You still have that option, but it costs too much. And btw I have 4 personal houses.
