What makes you say that? Almost all the players I know have little to no experience with FF, and just enjoy MMOs. That ones that never have played MMOs and are FF fans that I've attempted to recruit quit quickly enough.

I mainly meet FF fans that have never played an MMO and only came here because it's an FF title.

F2P games are a huge ripoff. Not only does their quality suffer greatly, but 5-10% of the playerbase literally pays for the other 90-95% to play, and the people who do pay for microtransactions end up spending far more per month than they would on a sub.

A lot of f2p players would try it regardless of it being a FFXIV game. A good chunk of people here are only here because they're FF players and not MMO players. With more MMO players they might actually design the game for FF AND MMO players. PLUS there would be a huge increase of decently skilled players.

Yeah... the unwashed F2P masses. Sorry, but most of the people who only play F2Ps and would only play FFXIV if there was no sub are not the kind of players you want to play with. They're fickle, greedy, immature freeloaders, for the most part. And it most definitely wouldn't bring in decently skilled players.

If this game went f2p or Hybrid I would quit that same day SE announced it. The f2p model works well for mobile app and indie games but is the worse model for large scale mmo's like Final Fantasy XIV.

nope. i think yoshi said this somewhere but when you have a F2P model, the developers focus on things related to the inevitable cash shop because that's what pays the bills.

with the subscription model we have right now, the develops are able to focus on creating actual content

Ahh so no different than the players here? All f2p players aren't "plebs". I play f2p and p2p mmos equally. The only gripe I have with f2p games are the BRs. Actually it would bring more skilled people as most f2p gamers this isn't their first MMO like so many people here. I've played a lot of mmos and this game literally has the highest level of bads I've ever dealt with. There's bads in all MMOs but for the most part f2p gamers seem (unless they're BR) to always be more skilled.
