    I don't get what you're saying here; we NEED more magical DPS types or that we're asking for them?

    BLU, for the most part, in all games it appears in is a physical-based mage. Most of its abilities in XI just happen to be Enhancing itself both defensively and physically (Mana Battery, Magic Carrot, Cocoon; Dual Wield, Quadratic Continuum, Thunderbolt).

    It was basically strictly a melee DPS in XI; if they want it to be Enfeebling, that's fine and all, but I can't see a job in XIV be focused on JUST Enfeebling as those abilities are heavily nerfed on release in this game and are given way stricter decay rules, not to mention that implementing concepts such as disabling a monster's complete resistance to Enfeeblements for a short time would be considered OP in this type of game.

    Also, most every job in this game is essentially a carbon copy of their previous iteration in XI (with the exceptions of SCH and SMN since they're based on the book-wielding ACN) weapons and gameplay-wise. To compare a possible iteration of BLU in XIV with XI is not really out of the ordinary; although DRK is a tank, it still uses a GS, even though its main weapon was a Scythe in XI. NIN still uses Daggers and SCH essentially made sense to use a book because they had access to the Grimoire in XI for using Addendum abilities.

    I'm not saying it needs to be exactly as it is in XI, but to say that it shouldn't be is ridiculous since most jobs in XIV basically take from XI in both weapons and abilities anyway.

    Well, there are still differences even in the 'shared' classes. Bards weren't archers, nor were they really all that viable in combat being pure support. And Monks, unlike pugilists, were capable tanks with the right gear and subjob thanks in no small part to their large HP pool. But that's all beside the point. Blue Mage would have to be reworked in regards to magic abilities due to how restricted players are in spell access. Weapon would be the least of their problems.

    I think whips sound so good because we just dont have them like we do other weapons. I would rather Blu has some sort of runestone that they hold on one hand and use to absorb the essence of enemies and can therefore use it to also summon the attacks of absorbed enemies. I think if whips come into the game it needs to be on Beastmaster.

    I think using a saber would be better. Since they are different from swords in appearance, they could fit in better. If Red Mage is later implemented, that could use rapiers.

    I hope if BLU will be ever added in game they would use dual sword pair ( like was dual wield for blu ) . Foe me is seem more brutal & awesome swordsmanship than PLD currently does . Plus tonns of spells uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    As much as I know Blue Mage will never be added, I wouldn't mind them getting forks. But I admit I love FFIX. Side Note: I know they aren't going to be added for the same reason there are so many problems with BRD. Yoshio wants BRD to be support but refuses to add a support role so BRDs get shafted in balancing. Blue Mage would be absolutely destroyed because of balancing issues with no support role AND Yoshio specifically said he does not want to add spells like haste to the player's arsenal.

    I've always thought that the Blue Mage signature weapon was a magic imbued saber. Not sure why haha, but I like the idea of that.

    Is your party ranged heavy? Go melee stance. Is your party melee heavy? Go ranged magical dps. And your LB could change accordingly based on stance.

    But this game should not keep trying to replicate FFXI and start trying to be its own thing...

    (and honestly the magical hoops were pretty entertaining to use in melee combat in that game *thwack* *thwack* *crotch kick*)
