That sucks and all, and I'm sure all dps players have done it at some point.
Still, that means you weren't really there when it started.
That would only encourage mostly dps players to queue and be able to go afk for some amount of time.
Only to find out their queue possibly popped sooner than expected, and for the rest of the party to be down one player.
Maybe it didn't pop, then they go away again and it does in that space.
You really should be present if the queue comes up to be able to go in.
If you really wait on your queue, this shouldn't happen that much.
It will benefit people who really leave their queue because they assume it won't pop soon, more than the people who wait 40 mins and go away for a second and miss it.
It would even encourage the former for longer queue times.
I queue as dps so I get that waiting for the queue is a bit restricting, but I'd much rather that than the system accept and enter the instance without even knowing if they're there at all.

Don't get me wrong here. I have the hours to spend just waiting in front of the queue. For that matter I only heal or tank; so queues are only seconds for me anyway. But im sure many people dont have that time to sit in front of the queue literally every second. Having an auto enter function would be immensely helpful for a ton of people I reckon.
Afking for a long time can be easily countered by just asking for a confirmation to stay in the queue every (fixed amount of) x minutes.

It's not literally every second though. There's a timer. What is it, 15-20s?Don't get me wrong here. I have the hours to spend just waiting in front of the queue. I dunno, I normally just accept.
The confirmation thing actually sounds more of a hassle to get rid of another hassle.
I mean, it already has a timer that gives reasonable room. I don't think they need to be more helpful than that.
You have some time to accept, but once you do accept you're definitely by your computer.
If there has some be some sort of solution, the system should just bump the player back to the front of the queue if they re-queue within a minute of missing their original queue.
Only works on the first queue though.
But otherwise, I don't think anyone should be allowed to enter an instance without being preset to accept it. That's just something that should be the case for the other people that gets grouped with you.

Pretty much, yes. But its an argument against the ''but we would get so many AFKers then''.
The difference with this hassle is that you know when its coming, unlike the queue popup which can happen at any time.
Its a fairly short timer. If im crafting something handmade I always have to decline since I wont have time to accept.
That would be a decent solution as well. Can be tricky for the queues that are long because not many people queue for them. (certain story duties, raids)

You're not describing the same problem as the gent I quoted. He's saying he wants his cursor to default to "commence" rather than withdraw when the popup appears, so he can just hit one button to enter.
In that case, as long as his TV isn't muted and he hears the pop- he can simply take the controller and press -> X and enter. Really no need for a change, and pressing one extra button isn't an issue.
On PC, well- if i have to piss I just unplug my headset so I hear the pop. If i have to do more than piss... I leave the queue.
What you seem to be asking for is an auto-commence, which would be even worse than having the cursor default to commence. The afk would be real.
WTF are you queuing for that you wait for 40 mins for? Why not just throw up a PF or get a healer/tank friend to help speed the pops?
Yeah. AFKers. No 'confirmation to stay in queue' is going to stop them. Or hey- imagine this. You queue for expert roulette. 2 minutes later, an S rank or Proto-Ultima spawn on your server. You get excited!
Then your queue pops, all 4 of you have auto-commence selected. Bye bye S rank / Proto-Ultima.
Sure, you could leave immediately- and have a 30 min lockout to look forward to and no guarantee you're going to make it to the S rank. Coz let's face it, in the time it took you to enter, leave, teleport to the zone and find a group- it died.
