the truth is you could produce actual stuff. the fact is you just didn't want to invest the time to do so.

it's no different than how some people feel about running the same dungeons over and over. they don't want to take the time to run something over and over to get that one item. should they be set to where you run it once and get every piece of gear for every party member? no, you should work for what you get.
yes let us compare removing useless and unneeded items and synths from crafting, to removing whole weapon sets and abilities, or a one time get all dungeon run..... yeah that makes "total" sense......... *rolls eyes*

I can not understand what massosistic tendencies people have, where they feel the crafting was ok before 1.9

I do feel that they might be going a little to far with some of the crafting changes, but it is better to bring it to basic form first, then build up from there, it makes thing a lot easier (on the programers side) in the long run.

like Yoshi said, the difficultly and complexity of syths will raise as the level of the crafts do..... or have some of you forgotten this?

To make that list simpler, for those who might just say, "yeah well a lot of those items are repeated." Yes they are, but lets count how many individual items are in this one recipe...

    1. Alumen
    2. Cotton Boll
    3. Cotton Robe Back (Red)
    4. Cotton Robe Front (Red)
    5. Cotton Sleeves (Red)
    6. Cotton Yarn
    7. Distilled Water
    8. Earth Shard
    9. Fire Shard
    10. Formic Acid
    11. Hempen Yarn
    12. Ice Shard
    13. Karakul Skin
    14. Lightning Crystal
    15. Lightning Shard
    16. Linseed Oil
    17 .Mesa-red Cotton Cloth
    18. Mesa-red Cotton Dye
    19. Mesa-red Dyer's Moss
    20. Moko Grass
    21. Mole-brown Dyer's Moss
    22. Mole-brown Hempen Cloth
    23. Mole-brown Hemp Dye
    24. Muddy Water
    25. Sheep Leather
    26. Sheep Leather Strap
    27. Sheep Leather Strap (Taupe)
    28. Squirrel Fur
    29. Squirrel Fur Shoulder Guards
    30. Squirrel Pelt
    31. Taupe Scale Bugs
    32. Taupe Sheep Leather
    33. Taupe Sheep Leather Dye
    34. Walnut Chips
    35. Walnut Log
    36. Water Shard
    37. Wind Shard

37 different items, many multiples of those items, for ONE robe.

Now imagine if you wanted to make 5 of these robes. As gifts for friends. Or perhaps a whole set of similar armor. I don't know about anyone else but I don't have this kinda space, and I have LOTS of space. >.>
I don't want to even think about all the running around to find all of these items. ... For ONE ROBE. JUST ONE. lol (No, I'm not shouting.. it's just that looking at a single recipe in this game blows my mind. XD)

I love crafting. I can't wait for the changes coming in 1.19.
I never get how the people who are most vocal about these things dont actually have any experience (whether thats theortetical or in practice)with what they are talking about.

As it happens ive made some cotton robes as weaver...

Funny story is your list shows things as cotton bolls which can be replaced by yarn, given that their only function the recipe is to make yarn.
Most of the alchemist materials are required in those instances when a) you are to lazy to just buy the item from a npc, b) dont want to find the items the easy way but rather craft it yourself.

I'm sure theres plenty of people here who barely touched weaver but can condense that huge bloated immense list of garbage you posted into perhaps a dozen items, including sup crafts.
I'd do it, but your post is to full of fail for me to want to touch it..

Oh right, but let me give you one extra nail for your coffin.

If you were to make 5 of those robes, it would be a lot faster, given that most of the required materials may take a while to make, but are however produced in multiples. (a single craft of a leather strap would be enough for 12 robes) Given that you just made the majority of those materials in large enough quantities for your 5 robes, youd just have to make the 2-3 components required again, which makes the craft for each further item take about 5 minutes.

    tl;dr
you dont know anything about crafting as your list above shows, and you also failed your basic english summary skills.
Come back when youve improved on these skills and can condense your list into something more in tune with how it really is, ie less modifying it to prove your point.

If a person was to make the robe and all it's sub parts from scratch, then the list is accurate.

Buddy, it seems you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about. I'm a weaver and have made hempen robes (I know its not a cotton robe, but the material list is very similar, just replace "cotton" with "hempen"). I've had to make and gather everything in that list before..It is not quick, it is not easy, it's a HUGE pain. I joined Leatherworking just to make things for those stupid robes, because no NPC or retainer had what I needed. And by the way it really did take ages to gather enough for 1 robe.. there's no way I could've gathered enough for multiple robes in a short amount of time.

So next time you decide to bash someone for stating their opinion on this matter, (and they showed us an example which is something most people don't do), make sure you either consult someone who knows what they're talking about, or just don't say anything at all. We don't need this kind of attitude -_-

no actually he is quite correct. here is the full recipe for cotton robe

    Cotton Robe Front (x1)
    Cotton Robe Back (x1)
    Squirrel Fur Shoulder Guards (x1)
    Sheep Leather Strap (Taupe) (x1)
    Cotton Yarn (x1)
    Cotton Sleeves (x1)

ok now look at the parts

    Cotton Robe Front:
    Undyed Cotton Cloth (x3)
    Undyed Hempen Cloth (x1)
    Cotton Yarn (x1)

one synth makes enough yarn for all of the cloth and the yarn needed. that mans for this you need 2 cotton balls and 2 moko grass. you have hempen yarn and cotton balls left over. yes, you would either need to make the dye or buy the cheap dye for round 150 gil in the wards if it's that high. on my tiny server with nobody playing you can buy it for round 100 so i am sure most servers you could buy it for that or less.

    total so far :
    2 cotton bolls
    2 moko grass

    Cotton Robe Back:
    Undyed Cotton Cloth (x4)
    Cotton Yarn (x1)

now you make one more synth of cotton yarn and you have enough for this complete synth as well.

    total so far :
    4 cotton bolls
    2 moko grass

    Squirrel Fur Shoulder Guards:
    Squirrel Fur (x1)
    Sheep Leather Strap (x1)

ok this one gets a little more tricky if you have no friends in game that is at least a level 6 leatherworker and i agree parts like this are not needed in low level synths. i would not have leatherworker parts in any weaver sub 20 synth myself. it's a very basic synth that would only take 10 minutes to rank up your leatherworker to this point, but i can understand the issue people have with doing multiple classes.

    total so far :
    4 cotton bolls
    2 moko grass
one friend with a leatherworker above rank 6. the rest of the items are very easy to purchase.

    Cotton Sleeves:
    Undyed Cotton Cloth (x2)
    Cotton Yarn (x1)

this synth you would use the leftovers cotton yarn and would need one more set of cotton bolls.

    total so far :
    6 cotton bolls
    2 moko grass
one friend with a leatherworker above rank 6. even if you grinded all the way to r6 yourself it's only 5 items needed for the part synth.
Sheep Leather Strap (Taupe) (x1) purchased from wards.
    the one hempen dye

sooo this massive synth requires the grand total of 6 cotton bolls, 2 moko grass, one sheep leather strap, one hempen dye, and 5 pieces that are simple items to get in wards or from one or the npc's or a friend.

edit: if anything in this entire synth should be removed i can understand the shoulder guards because they are another class to make a part and that can get annoying, but that could be easily fixed by changing the materials on that one part and have it be a weaver synth. that's not a reason to destroy a complete system for that one thing.

The point is, almost nobody nowadays going to make a robe from scratch. Nobody. The ward is there for a reason, even if it sucks, you can still find it. Otherwise there aren't 100s+ robe of all colour and material putting up on sale in wards. Otherwise there would be nothing up for sale in ward! And what make it worse is that on Gysahl, low level gears like Hempen and Cotton at 10k ea a piece rarely sell! So where is this problem I heard about that lowbies can't find low level gears because they are too complicated to make?

i went through and put that if you wanted to you would need a whopping 5 extra items. i even conceded that the needing a leatherworker for the part that required the items i could see removing or replacing with something that is weaver only. i gave you a list of what you needed. you tried to make it look like rocket science when it is anything but that.

How can you expect crafts to control the game economy if they are too busy trying to find 20-30 items to make one piece of armor?

What happens when 10 of your LS members need full sets of gear to start working on Materia? " Oh hang on for 5 hours while i prepare parts to make all the gear." Ya, that won't fly. Then when people see all the sexy materia your LS mates are making they will come to you with tons of orders for gear. Then what do you do?! I bet then you will wish you had an easier crafting system so you can bang out gear in no time and be rolling in gil!

no, i will do just like i have always done. i will get them done because i enjoy crafting. who are you to say people won't wait for you to make parts? most of the time they drop materials with me and tell me to get it done when i can and just get back with them when i am done. don't try to make assumptions that everyone would act like you would if you were having to wait in line.

what will you do if they being out new dungeons and it takes an hour to complete? are you going to help do them or are you gonna sit and complain it took too long?

the point was the ones that enjoy crafting enjoy it because of the complexity and the people hat like battle like it for their own reasons. you do not have full time crafters telling battle how they should gut their system to make it easier on them, but the ones that do battle want to do that to them.
