Shortage of tanks a myth - thoughts?

We need to just shut up for the most part and go back to the old days before every game insisted on including a dungeon finder. Apply the non-DF attitude to DF and it should fix right up.

If you wipe, take a minute or three, figure out the EXACT problem without blaming specific classes, go over what you think you did wrong, and try again.

How has this gotten so hard?

I used to tank low levil rouletts, but stoped now. I wont even try to tank any of the higher roulett's. I'm just not confertable with pulling muliple groups of mobs at a time. I only did low level roulett's cause the pace was much smoother for me.

I main a healer now, and finally getting used to spamming cure II's on tanks now, because all i see is SR's in high/expert roulett's anymore. I dont play tank like that, so nope only thing i'll do is low level stuff with my tank.

Guess what here's something strange. I can't come to like any DPS Class (i was dpsing in every mmo before xiv) and i absolutely love the tanking classes. Dpsing looks so boring here i insta rolled a Tank and im Happy with it. If someone comes at me the wrong Way i let him choose. Play with me and be quiet, or wait for another Tank (which likely will not happen) and break up the whole Dungeon.

At that, nobody should be even attempting to SR Halatali NM. Wouldn't fly well on Famfrit, and healer would probably let you die on purpose till your lesson has been learned :P

EXACTLY.

The problem is we're living in a world filled with anonymous internet jerk-offs who demand instant gratification for their time.

This is a GAME. A game that is mean to be ENJOYED.

If people want to speed through everything so that they can show off how giant their Epeen is, then don't use Duty Finder and ruin the game for everyone else. Stick to your own kind.

Funny enough, the most rotten attitude I've dealt with recently was another tank when I was tanking an 8-man. Absolutely toxic player. We almost halted T4 so we could kick him for harassment. (Not naming names, but he's on Exodus. He was so bad I looked him up to see if I needed to blacklist him on my server.)

If you go into content with a cheerful and positive attitude yourself, most people make an attempt to reciprocate.

As Kosmos has stated earlier, the shortage of tanks (and healers) is both real and imagined.

The real part is that there are a lack of players willing to step into the role as tank (and/or healer). And I count myself among those numbers, mostly due to that I have zero desire to have to deal with lippy brats. And then you have those tanks (and healers) who don't make things better. Some are there simply for the shorter queue times. Hell, one time I was in WoD, one of the tanks was acting like a complete ass, stealing threat from the MT, intentionally doing a poor job at MTing, name-calling everyone in the raid. So there's that.

I would blame the content, rather than the community.
If the content weren't designed the way it is, the community wouldn't do what it does.

Even if the content were different, certain members of the community would still act like complete douche-canoes. Though I do agree that the Marauder/Warrior/Gladiator/Paladin quests haven't done a good job teaching the player how to tank.
