I fully agree with this sentiment. Its the reason that i am a big supporter of the downgrade in importance of Support and Skill books from required to boosters. A person should want to reach for these advantages, not be jackbooted into being forced to use them or else.
SE offered no new use for these things, they simply said they weren't putting them in new recipes anymore.
