i admit i liked the realism in making gear but every time i wanted to make something specific for a friend it soon became a chore (33 weaver here) for example to make a simple blue cotton robe you needed, if you wanted to make it from scrach, to synth not less than 5-6 times as 2 different crafts, make cotton thread, make cotton robe front blue, make cotton robe back blue, make cotton sleves blue, make squirrel fur shoulder guards on leatherworker (or search the in the wards), get some sheep leather strips that need to be taupe colored and then if you finally have everything you needed to make it and in the rare chance it screws up all work was for nothing.

Way to go SE. You took all the great ideas from the forums, just like we wanted you to. And then you took them to such an extreme that you've turned crafting into a pointless action with no depth.

Abolishment of Parts from Synthesis & Revisions to Materials and Intermediary Materials - We didn't want you to remove them. We wanted you to make them make more sense. We wanted them to be rank appropriate, and maybe remove some the really annoying ones that kept any one from making a rank 14 frying pan. We didn't want this.

Removal of Secondary Skill Requirements - Removed? Maybe what you could have done was made it so they aren't required, but still help out if you have them. Instead of a penalty for NOT having it, how about a bonus FOR having it. Aren't you guys always talking about rewarding players instead of punishing them?

Removal of Crafting Facility and Treatise Requirements - Great. Brilliant. Now I'm just like every other crafter out there even though I took the time to build up marks and buy everything. Why did you even improve local leve marks if you were just going to do this?

Simplified Color Customization - Yes to this! It would be great to finish an item and then dye it. This is what we wanted. We don't need universal dyes though. Once again you removed the annoying part and then went to far and took away ALL the depth.

SE, there was plenty of room for compromise here. The hardcore, dedicated crafters would have been generally happy as clams if you improved the system so it was more accessible to casual players but LEFT the depth to crafting that made it stand out from every other MMO and *** clone out there. What you did was create a crafting system where there is no diversity or reward for being dedicated and hardcore. At this point, would you mind adding batch crafting / mass production? You might as well.

And that's not even getting into the effect this will have on +3 finished items and the ensuing glut of them... When everybody is special, nobody is.

If SE is going to go this far, they may as well simply delete all crafting classes, and replace them with an NPC "a la Diablo III". By eliminating any depth to the crafting system, they simply remove all of the interesting parts of crafting to crafters. What remains is a soulless grind that exists only for combat classes to make themselves gear. I believe that nearly every crafter that crafts because they enjoy crafting will stop playing as a result of these changes.

All that will be left are those players who craft for the sake of getting gear. And their next complaint will be that the crafting system isn't fun : because it won't be.

This proposed change does nothing to enhance the gameplay for crafters, in the sense of making crafting more fun. Instead, it is designed to enhance gameplay for fighters/sorcerers, by giving them easier access to crafted gear. It retains all of the boring old aspects of grinding up crafting ranks, and replaces any depth that existed with an extremely shallow recipe system.

    You said it pretty perfectly.

I also see that as a pretty big problem for the game itself, because right now it's one of the things that's making it unique. I see a lot more people in town crafting than in MMOs with ten times the population, and I think that's in large part due to FFXIV being the only game where crafting is more than a side activity for people when they're not fighting mobs. If it's made the same as every other MMO, all of those people will quit, and yet it won't gain anyone for it.

Look up the recipes for the parts that are listed and then maybe you'll notice that the difference is massive.

I can tell you for certain that my main LS will lose players.
I will encourage them to give their input on the Japanese side since they normally ignore the forums completely.

Amen. You nailed it greatly. Hope the devs listen and don't go through with all their changes.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

    Good.

Removing unnecessary item redundancy and reducing item bloat does not equal "dumbing down"

There's a good reason there aren't any parts for sale in the wards. This will eliminate a useless element from the crafting system and streamline it into a more gameplay and economy-oriented system.

I wanted to "Like" this more than once...

I swear people, there is a fine line between making a game too realistic and too simplistic. I don't want to play a game thats so realistic it becomes as frustrating as real life can be. If I want reality I can log out.
