Halleluyah!!!
Finally they will allow us to actually craft, and not spend days of hoarding materials just for that stupid missing hempen fent sleeve piece No. 1324 (light blue, with a hint of ochre and yellow spots).

I am a big fan of the crafting system as it is, although the level requirement for some parts and materials needed to be revised.
I am not sure all these changes were really needed but before evaluating them I think we need to see how the materia system will work and how they merge together.
I love the crafting system as it is and I think if something is not broken why fix it. I dont know but I have put alot of work into getting my weaving to 46 and leather to 41 and now I feel like it is a slap in the face to make these changes after all the hard work I have put into getting to where I am at. But I guess it is my fault for playing a game that the producers have to recreate. ;'(

this is very good news for the average player. i know the hardcore crafters wont like it especially the ones who have already lvled, but i stopped my crafting at rank 20 due to the inventory heavy overcomplicated nature of the craft system.
Best Idea Ever. They said it would be possible to play the whole game as any one class and that turned out to be untrue under the old system. I was going to just be a armorer but then it turned out I couldnt just be armorer. I had to know alchemy, leather, black, and gold also if I was gonna rank armor. I had completely written off crafting after I got most of my ranks up to 20. Now I am excited about coming back to it.
Good job Yoshi. Keep on streamlining and making the game fun and not an exercise in busywork. Ignore the selfish children who shoot things down because they are mad they walked through the desert before you put in a road.
Seriously this is a great change. I am a crafter, and i approve these changes. I do DOL as well, and with the materia system coming how is DOL going to die!? You guys are just QQing over a very flawed system from the start. If you want realism go do some daily activities. This is a game last i checked, and i want to escape reality not live it in a game. I am not going to give any type of example to validate my statment, many have already done as much. Yet, "ESK" Your defending your statment with so much conviction your straying away from the bigger problem at hand. The community as a whole, not as a individual. I agree that its a bit extreme, but honestly the old system vs the new is already dynamic in itself. I favor having to use lets mats to get to the finished product. That is less of a timesink in regards to that step, and it allows you to have more time to rank up other important crafts you might need in the short window of time you might have to play. This is directly going to affect the hardcore player base. The casual players will always welcome these additons since they have a concept of reality outside of this game. You hardcore players im sure do as well, but doesnt seem that way when you QQ over every single major change that will impact the game, and as you say "Dumb it down". Thats my 2cents, sorry to be so harsh as i usually am not. I am just so tired of people saying "WE WANT CHANGE" Then the second you get that change you disect every single aspect of the change to make it look like its a bad thing. Wake up people, some of us enjoy change, in fact if we never had change in this world. We would still be cavemen. I commend your efforts esk, but the reality is this change was coming and we all knew that already. Now all you can do is embrace the changes, and see the good thats coming from this. Try to be optimstic about the reality thats coming to pass. Might make it easier for you to sleep at night.
The parts system was a fantastic idea, and I'm saddened that it's getting abolished. The whole point of the parts system was to make crafting social. Some finished products required BSM, TAN, WVR, and CRP. Take up one and make friends who have the others. Start a shared crafting business. Make deals on parts. OR you could take up all of them and become a self-sufficient entrepreneur.
I get the point that it makes crafting finished products easier, but now it's just going to be regular old crafting. TBH I think they should have just reduced the amount of shards for parts (total shards for a lot of finished products exceeds 60). I thought the parts system was brilliantly intricate.
To all the people who do not like the recipe change, ask yourself this: will you decide to use the new recipes, or use the old ones while they're still in the game? (not just because you still have the materials for them)
Sure, it may have been fun to some extent, but there were way too many parts that lead to equipment not being made.
is not "way too many parts" that lead to equipment not being made it's the 1 random high lvl ingreadent in most synths and the lack of a good selling system. this is what needs to changeTo all the people who do not like the recipe change, ask yourself this: will you decide to use the new recipes, or use the old ones while they're still in the game? Not sure about that. I assume they added higher rank materials so people would buy them if they couldn't make it, which in theory would move the market. but it is frustrating for people who want to make everything on their own.
