    That won't matter. Even if gear is mathmatically better. It is still a play-style change if you include effects and things that change the way your spells work.

    Even someone 5% better, someone can play 30% better with one way and still be better then someone who has a small statistical advantage. People just Hoard stuff because they are unsure of themselves.

    On EQ2 we had that choice since TSO. I always chose the offensive gear, even in high end raids. I didn't change for anyone. Sure, I was harder to heal. However we killed things faster as a trade-off.

    the current gear treadmill discourages the one of the game's strongest and most unique features; all classes on one character. I stopped playing more than 2 jobs once the tomestone nonsense got out of hand. I don't mind collecting a set of gear for each job. I do mind collecting a set of gear for each job every few months. f that.

    It will most definitely matter.

    It means you will need to collect every viable piece of gear for every encounter. Instead of hording gear for glamour you would be doing it in order to have the piece of gear tailored for the encounters you'll face.

    Lots of unavoidable raid wide damage in Boss A? Bring that gear that offers heals upon damaging. Frequent tank buster moves on Boss B? Tank should bring that gear where boss damage = self heals or damage taken = boss damage. Situations like these will be commonplace.

    The inventory bloat is real.

    But its unreliable to rely on it too much because its a % chance, it could never work for that unavoidable damage. Thus its not made to be used with it, its just a little helpful, not required.

    o' Of course it does matter! However, what if it never procs? Its a Percent. You don't rely on it! You don't need it to kill the boss, its helpful!

    Not really "tailored" you take the risk of not being able to heal it now. Its a trade-off, not required. Also you can't rely on it. What if none of the pieces proc?
