You got Akh Morn. That's literally better than anything anyone else got. Stop complaining.

I find it hilarious that people are getting all excited for one skill based on name alone. You're throwing around "Akh Morn" like it's the holy grail of all things summoner when in reality all it does is provide a single AoE nuke which Black Mage has had in their arsenal since the start of the game. If they gave us some 200 potency attack called 'Megaflare' you'd probably all be going crazy over that too based on the name alone.
It's worth noting that in the demos, these jobs were level 60 and had very high level equipment on. Everyone drooled at the damage, but it's really not all that impressive. If you follow the same chain for a Black Mage's Flare (a spell which is already darned close to Akh Morns power already), Black Mage still comes out on top by that point. And furthermore, it's on a charge system so you can't even cast it freely, unlike BLM.
So, terribly sorry I'm not as excited for Akh Morn as the rest of you. It was foolish of me to assume a summoner would have anything to do with actual summoning.

If it is true, that you do about 2000-3000 burst damage every 30s, its worth to to become excited.I find it hilarious that people are getting all excited for one skill based on name alone. Its a little stronger than Fester. It is ment to have a 30s Fester, then 30s Akh Morn rotation, that makes it about 5000-10000 burst damage for 60s (not counting the DoTs and Egi-damage)
I missed the part where you are using primal aether to summon manifestations of said primals (and able to change their appearance soon).
Or the fact that the pet is a chunk of your damage, plus the abilities that increase it's usefulness.
Or the fact that you are, again, channeling the aether of Bahamut to use some of his abilities.
XI is down the hall, WoW is to the left across from it. Welcome to 14, where the way SMN works differs from either game and the dev team seeks to keep it that way.
Hell, be glad you got balanced and stuff/stats for SMN actually got buffed. They could have given you a new egi and stuck you with the current state and said deal with it. Course, with the way these forums work, they would celebrate over that...

I don't think you understand as it stands right now Sch is more of a summoner then the actual SMN job. Sch and their pet bounce off each other, and if the pet goes down the Sch only last so long without it (unless you Dissipation). The way SMN and their pet should be working is a 50/50 relationship with crossing buffs (like contagion and Spur), but the way FF14 SMN has been working up to this point is a 70/30 relationship. So now with the inclusion of the expansion abilities the scales have changed. Dreadflare has basically changed it to a 90/10 relationship, now you don't really even need your pet out.

He said before we know any numbers on the new abilities or any adjustments to the egis....
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh

I'll respectfully disagree with this. In either class, if my pet goes down, my priority is to get it back up asap. You covered the scholar's case, pretty well. Sure, I can keep people alive without either one, but it's not easy. In the case of the summoner, it's a 30% loss of damage. Clearly, in coil and ex fights, your group will feel that, but you don't need to go to that extreme, just run the ex roulette and see how quick it goes.
Um. No?
SCH comes with 0 abilties which affect the summon, where as SMN has 2 (Spur and Enkindle). Both jobs are at their best when micromanaging the pet and suck without one. You're only pointing out the fact that SCH is a healer, so it suffers with no fairy. SMN also suffers when there is no pet present in the terms of a decent DPS loss. This can be easily seen by anyone who runs a parser, claiming the pet isn't a good source of DPS is pretty laughable really. Nothing changes in the expansion except now they have to juggle Bahamut stacks as well as their usual stuff, on top of DoT/pet damage running off of SpS which is a decent buff in itself.
Hard to say SMN isn't about the pet when 2/5 abilities in the game thus far buff the pet, the fact that you are basically channeling Bahamut (Look, more Summoner lore abilities), on top of Spellspeed buffing pet damage in Heavensward for the job. You even have to juggle two pets based on the fight. (Good Summoners do, which is what we should be basing this on)
I fail to see why you people are complaining.

Just to nitpick, both have Rouse. It's ACN, ability, but I tend to chain together Rouse, Fey Illumination, and Whispering Wind, but that's a topic for a different conversation.
The argument is between SMN and SCH. ACN has no place in a discussion about lv 50 and the upcoming lv 60 abilities, especially considering both can use ACN abilities.
Point stands. SCH is no summoner. SCH just so happens to be a healer that has to rely on a fairy (that it has no synergy with, no less) to be decent. I find it strange that the healer is the one that has to sacrifice the pet for a boost instead of the SMN, but whatever works I suppose.
We went over this, Rouse is out of the question due to the above. The sac fairy skill counts, sure. But it still does not make the SCH anywhere close to a "summoner", which is what people are attempting to hint at.
This thread really boils down to people wanting a new summon, or wanting summoner to be like XI. The new summon would more than likely suck compared to Garuda/Ifrit, and XI is a completely different game. Stop asking.
As I said earlier, I fail to see why there are complaints judging by the choices they had. Either they give you a new, gimped summon without the rework, or you get what you have coming now. They could have went the WAR route in 2.0 and said you are "fine" before changing it months later.
