No new SMNs for SMN?

Am I the only one who finds this... disappointing to say the least, the whole point of the class Should be the summon, not the actions of the summoner.

What I REALLY want for the class is, the FF11 summoner without the mp drain for keeping it out, that's what I really hopped for.

I'll try the new summoner's abilities before complaining about no new summon (then again I do want to get new summons and the return of elemental affinities for the fights...). I always wanted to get "stances" instead of a pet (one for each summon") which would modify the main abilities of the summoner to this stance elemental affinity while gaining stacks to use for a big summoning attack. So far it seems they are kinda doing something similar (not as much as I wanted...) but I'll wait to have tried it before saying if I'm happy with this or not ^^.

drg's bread and butter damage up ability is essentially 100% up time now. Mnk bread and butter damage up ability Grease lightning needs a longer duration so its less maintenance keeping it up.

But srsly SMN needs some serious work, of all the kits out there, smn feels the least original when comparing to other games, and certainly within the immediate vicinity of comparing it straight up to sch. The new skills will certainly branch SMN farther away from sch.

@op personally I'm pretty happy with what they're adding to summoner (from a first glance) but that's probably because I'm mostly content with the way the job is now. I do hope they made some worthwhile tweaks to the existing Egi though.

Everyone single job, not exaggerating here, has gotten changes to balance them with the other jobs over the past year and half. The reason some have received more attention than others is because they are broken when compared to the ideal for its competition. Dragoon has gotten the most attention lately because it wasn't viable in the latest coil and squeaked by in the second coil. Summoner is getting the best possible changes without a drastic revamp of the job. They would have to make it an actual pet-centric class to justify adding new summons instead of new caster skills first.

It SHOULD have been pet centric from Day One.

I admit little can be done now without a revamp, but i for one would welcome a complete revamp if it made it pet centric.

Talking about buffs, DRG had the least buffs.. why not get more?
