No new SMNs for SMN?

Just because people don't like how smn is doesn't mean they should condemn smn. Quite frankly I don't like the attitude of people who think that way. But does that mean I should condemn them for it? No. Also if you don't like smn the way the dev's made it why even play smn to begin with. This is how smn is in ffxiv and I hope it stays this way. Because imo smn in ffxiv was boring.

where you just stand there while someone else does your killing for you. I mean, i play games because i like to, you know, play them.

Summons should exist to bolster the Summoner in his/her attack. Whether it means to distract an enemy while you attack from afar, to cast alongside you, or to damage it up close. Not to just come in and go "you have a seat, get a drink maybe, i'll just do this for you"

Your not summoning Bahamut your just using one of his attacks. Think of it like a FF7 thing, you call in the Summon they attack once then leave. It's basically a 1 hit magical artillery support. If you was actually summoning Bahamut egi for a duration, there would be alot more hype then complaining.

To be honest, these SMN changes will make SMN more interesting. I've said this in a post before and I'll say it again:

Why do you guys want more egis? What happens if you get 3 more egis, let's say Levi Ramuh and Shiva, and they all turn out to be complete crap? You'll end up going back to using Garuda due to Contagion or Ifrit for melee dps (it's an actual increase).
Like, honestly guys. I'd rather have some class changes rather than new egis at the moment.

It's not really the case that people are complaining as much about the lack of Egi's than the fact there's a distinct lack of actual summoning going on. I hate to harp on about the same point over and over, but it really needs to be spelled out to some people because they seem to forget that it's in the name.

All I personally wanted was a bit more focus on the pets. New pet skills would have been a good start. How about giving them each something unique so that we might actually want to use them all instead of only one of them? As of right now, the pets are just a garnish to the main course.

How do you know we aren't getting any new pet skills? They haven't shown all of the skills for any class yet.

If they had gone ahead with a new egi, there would be ppl screaming then too. Probably about 'why <insert classic summon>?!?!? <insert other classic summon> would be the better choice, any fool can see that!!!'

In almost 14 yrs of playing SE's FF MMOs, SMN is the class/job with the most unsatisfied and hardest to please group of players of any game i have ever seen-even more than RDM players. Either we are bashing(not constructively critiquing, i mean bashing) the devs or tearing each other to shreds. It shows how decent a company SE can be in some ways that they even attempted to bring SMN to FFXIV.
