DPS is too slow guys! (OMG!!!)

I had a group in Levi Ex in DF the other day that failed the DPS check there. Three times in a row. Despite the tank telling everyone to DPS the adds as soon as they came up. (And these people were not badly geared, either-- everyone had over 5000 HP.)

I did not even know it was possible to be THAT BAD but apparently it is.

The problem isn't their failure but in your way of dealing with it. Cheer them on, encourage them. I often use [Let's do it!] and cheer emote. I tank alot of coil in DF and most of the time it ends in failure. But if you cheer and encourage. You might be pleasantly surprised how much harder they try because they want to appease the Karma Gods. If it doesn't work, oh well, queue again.

Actually the problem is in the failure. Informing people of a problem, in this case low DPS is usually an acceptable solution.

That should be enough to prompt people to step up their game, and if even that isn't enough to meet a DPS check and the DPS are all meeting the ilvl requirements, then it's time for them to take a good hard look at their rotations.

In a perfect world, I would agree with you. But this is Eorzea, where people complain about Grass and kick you for watching cutscenes. As they say, When in Rome you do as Romans do. When in Eorzea, you keep your opinions to yourself, and just look forward to things. Like clearing, and not complaining.

What if it isn't DPS that is the issue? What if it is mechanics? You can't be expected to explain mechanics during a run. Shouldn't they know it before they go in? Especially in DF right?

The only fights that have any sort of significant DPS checks that can't simply be powered through with gear are EX Primals and Coil (and Odin, but that is just "don't stand in the bad"), and yes, I absolutely believe people should at the very least look up a guide before going into those because the mechanics are more complex and take much longer to explain than just a dungeon or story mode Primal.

Even in most of the EX Primals and Second Coil, adequate DPS can be achieved with just a half-decent rotation. So either the DPS are REALLY bad or OP is talking about Final Coil, where you need to bring your A game as a DPS.
