No thnx, teleporting already makes a lot of late game transportation pointless. If we had wings then whats the point of having a lot of the mounts reworked so that they can fly?
It'd just make the majority of players go wtf r u serious SE.... Instead of fixing/ making new content, you waste ur time on pointless wings tht a lot of ppl don't like.

Flying mounts for faster flying? Although more people have responded negatively than positive, taking views of the thread into account I think even more people are like "Meh, I don't care either way."

Wings like Aion wings: No.
Wings on gear like Dreadwyrm outfit: I'm fine with.
Winged/feathered race: Yes yes yes, but less obnoxious wings.
Winged race fly independently: No, they can have wings but can't fly lol (Like Sarah from Star Ocean 4 or could be cast down in which they're never able to fly again).

heavensward will add flying mounts , ppl dont ask for pemanent wings , just a mount that use wings as a way to fly instead of dragon or chocobo

i would love a mount that let me float/fly (like hydaelin scene)

Then put something in the game that supports it. Or just make it a Veteran Reward - because the other Veteran Rewards don't give a hoot if they are supported by other stuff in the game or not. Random huge, tame Behemoth for us to ride on in the mail box? Where's the lore support for that? Bar its own description in the mount log, there is none. Put the pair of wings in the mount log, add an explanation they come up with, and voilà.

The things rewarded from the veteran rewards; as far as mounts, can be explained through beast taming/training.


People want wings, but don't want to include reasons as to how/why they would exist. Some people don't want them and provide reasons as to why they wouldn't fit. So far your argument has been "this stuff that's already in game doesn't make sense to me! Let's also add wings for that same reason!" My argument has been about the cohesion of lore or assumed lore.

And honestly, the fact that we fight Odin in this game, and the fact that his mount is supposed to be unique, and the fact that Odin doesn't drop it seem to be reasons NOT to have his mount for sale in the cash shop, rather than support.

It is a fair argument. If it weren't sold then it would have most likely have been a drop from Odin. And uniqueness is not an argument that belongs in ANY MMO. Otherwise there should be people annoyed with the fact there seems to be a lot of Sasukes that showed up with "Sasuke's Blade" and a lot of Paladins were around that had "Excalibur" when said weapon/s belonged to a SINGLE person.

Why not both?

SE could implement wings as a kind of a new flying mount. Just instead riding a dragon or a chocobo, your character just got a pair of wings attached.

Wings like the wedding wings will be nice. But I don't know about it being permanent feature though.

Wings belong in 2 places. Aion, and crappy pay-to-win Chinese games

My guess is people wanting these wings will want them for a lot more than Aion-level use. In Aion, wings essentially work as gliders and flight paths, dependent on windstreams for any real distance. In most cases, they're something you hit before colliding with the ground to not take fall damage. That's still a fair bit from a replacement for flying mounts. That much, especially just the glider part, I wouldn't mind if there was some lore given for it, since we likely won't be able to summon flying mounts while falling, and it'd just generally feel more responsive (a quality we don't get all that often). Having personal wings actually replace flying mounts would be more like a Alfheim Online, an altogether different level of... well, pick your own term. >.>

All of which have something tying them to the game. A reason. The holidays in which said items represent. Wings have no such thing.
Currently there is nothing tying personal wings into the game. Not a spell, not a tech., not anything. Thus introducing them into the game would just feel extremely contrived, something being added for the sake of it being added. If they were to have existed, then the mage city; who's name I'm currently blanking on, which no longer exists, would have been the place to birth said magic. And I don't think that would be a magic so easily forgotten, it would be vastly known and highly sought after as it would negate the need for airships, other tech., and even taming beasts for riding. Which is why wings don't belong.

I can't really think of a better place than Ishgard for old Aegyl lore. And if it was something that was incredibly hard to get, I'd really enjoy it as, say, another, very, very rare flying mount variety. But I honestly do think that here, more than in relic weapons, uniqueness is important, almost to the point where if someone else were to get it, you should know of them through the quests involved (and maybe this time we'll finally have something that really requires 8 skilled players to accomplish something outside of raids). Of course, just not literally calling it unique in its quests would probably help a lot...

Of course I wouldn't want wings added into the game just because. Having a logical story and reason behind them would be the only way I'd truly love them. As Tani said, having some really challenging quests to be able to unlock them (to use only in flying areas) would be pretty darn cool. Just adding the wings because is a no-go imo XD But I'm not too worried about it. I think if SE were to add them, I'm sure there'd be a reason.
