Since you wanted someone to respond to mechanics ideas and not just appearance (I think personal wings look stupid in about 95% of instances, for that record) Let's run down the list:

Terrible idea, now the zone designers need to stick in MORE random little floaty bits than necessary to justify the whole concept. Good luck telling where that unspoiled node is, too, since you only get XY coordinates.

Which we already have flying mounts to do, which even relatively intelligently can tell when to switch from land to flight. But if I can just fly, why bother with those?

glide from high places in old zones,

Awesome, let's travel old zones in a fashion that lets us totally ignore the zone design AND the scenery. Don't forget that most zones were never designed to be viewed from a perspective off the ground, so now we need to redesign every single one to work with personal flight.

Welp, that mob was just a little too low, sorry it killed you. Aerial combat is hard, at best, and the combat of FFXIV is optimized for flat planes for a reason.

stats could be added to the Wings as well as glamors.

Now we need to balance every single piece of content against the possibility that someone has an extra piece of gear on. Also we need multiple sets of wings, plus a new wing for each primal, plus one for each class for each raid tier, plus tomestone versions, and gee, what about one as a veteran reward?

Flying is rarely executed well, and flying in areas not built for it is just a recipe for disaster. Add in all the resources to even put it in, and that's a lot of content or other improvements that could be added to the game for the ability to do something we're already getting the ability to do in Heavensward.

I do not like the idea... There's enough bells and whistles as it is in the recent poetics gear - wings are just so ostentatious.

I don't mind wings appearing as part of abilities (DRG limit break w midy's wings; healer limit break with angels healing the party; pld ability that is seraph-themed etc) but a literal pair of wings does not suit my palates personally

This is the most stupid suggestion I've seem in this forum. This is my opinion, tho'. Adding wings, even if just cosmetics, would give this game a cheap and dork feeling, like one of those f2p korean games. Keep the game classy, please. We're already getting flying mounts.

have you not seen the reindeer outfit, all of the kabutos, the chocobo suit, the racing chocobo head gear, the goblin mask, the egg caps, and do you not own a mirror?

wings could hardly make us look anymore dorky as you say...cause the Christmas surgar loaf hat is soooo classy...amirite? ....kk....lol

anyway op I like the idea of wings, I dobut though they would ever add it , the game is limiting in many ways (awesome in many others!!!...but still somewhat stagnant and very bland especially in gear design)

No. I'd rather they use the developement time to make a proper glamour system.

As has been stated very, very often in this thread already - wings would be hidden while on ground, they'd only be shown while flying.

They may not be frequent but they're there. And it's not like the OP is asking for wings to be permanently protruding from their back. Only a temporary thing. I don't see what's wrong with asking for more variety of flight options. Especially options you don't have to use. Also, there's absolutely no need to get snarky.

I never said they had to be a seasonal event reward. Wings could be a high-tier Veteran Reward, for example.

All of which have something tying them to the game. A reason. The holidays in which said items represent. Wings have no such thing.

Currently there is nothing tying personal wings into the game. Not a spell, not a tech., not anything. Thus introducing them into the game would just feel extremely contrived, something being added for the sake of it being added. If they were to have existed, then the mage city; who's name I'm currently blanking on, which no longer exists, would have been the place to birth said magic. And I don't think that would be a magic so easily forgotten, it would be vastly known and highly sought after as it would negate the need for airships, other tech., and even taming beasts for riding. Which is why wings don't belong.

So yes, please do consider the world before making such claims, especially when current lore is heavily steeped into airships, tech., and beast taming for travel.
