im trying to figure out on what basis people feel that the jobs in FFXIV are wrong. using other games to try and justify it its pretty silly, as those games are not this game. if anything, use what is in this game to see what could be improved and stop trying to turn XIV into something else.

Featherfoot is nothing more than a taunt button.
Some Status effects like paralyze or blind become nigh useless to hit with later on.
Its a guess as to what to use goad on
And classes could use adjustment into jobs of their own.

how about your Loving Tank, who doesn't have access to invigorate. A tank going all out get's TP starved by abiout 7 minutes if he's interrupted. wait, that was old data from over a year ago. It might be faster now. Also, if somebody has to get raised, they should be goaded for TP recovery.

Ah, but that DPS might need it for the add phase. It honestly depends on the situation, and having no tp number means a vital piece of information on when to use it is missing.

I will use it if you ask, though!

Well, I'm all for them doing things differently and putting a new spin on things, but in some cases it's fairly ridiculous how far it's been taken.

Scholar for example. It's Scholar in name and AF alone. In reality it is Summoner with the classic summons removed. It's quite literally Rydia with just Sylph for a summon. That isn't Scholar. There is doing things differently and then there is just putting the name on a completely different Job. Give it the same generic robe set all mages seem to end up in in this game and hide the name and I wouldn't be able to identify Scholar as Scholar in the slightest, there's not really anything that makes it particularly Scholarly outside the main weapon being a book...

The whole two Jobs for Arcanist just plainly didn't work, to be honest. Both play the same, albeit with two different focuses. They could have, for example, made Summoner about cycling through and controlling Egis to maximize DPS, and Scholar about managing Aetherflow to use a series (not just one or two) of strategic abilities for healing and reducing damage. Shame they didn't and a bigger shame that it put them off more secondary Jobs, meaning we ended up with "Rogue is Thief", rather than actually getting Thief. Perhaps one day they'll give us an Onion Knight/Freelancer style Job which can be on any Class to effectively give us Thief properly by making Rogue not worthless, and provide those Carbuncle lovers with something...

Something like Bard has issues, but at least it actually has Songs to make it somewhat more like Bard. Scholar just seems like a hastily thrown together healer because they needed another healer and just went "What if we made Summoner a healer?" and just slapped any old name on it. Kind of surprising Summoner is the one getting the "significant overhaul" in 3.0, I'd say Scholar needs it more. OK Summoner needs general adjustments more, but it's still Summoner. It's different, but that's fine in my opinion. Scholar isn't just a little bit different, it's an entirely different Job. It desperately needs more Scholarly skills, to me it's like if they'd released Dragoon and specifically opted not to have any Jump skills...

ignore all the other games, what does the word Summoner mean to you? it summons something. shouldn't whatever is being summoned be more valuable than 20-25% of the damage if Summoner is a DPS job?

what does Bio and Miasma have to do with Summoning?

Summoner probably would have been better off if it wasn't a pet job and more like Ninja. you get 3 seals that tick away, put them on targets in different orders and you still get Astral Flow charges, but instead of Bane and Fester, you get to summon attacks like Aerial Blast and Inferno.

Scholar works better, at least the name doesn't imply it's pet dependent, it's about planning out when to put up Soil, when to put up Succor/Adlo, etc.
