    Jobs you feel yoshi and team got wrong

    As the title states...I feel their are some jobs in the game that imo could have been done differently. I am just stating my opinion and as such it will differ everyone else's.

    BRD-- I miss the XI version of BRD or more importantly the ability to have 2 songs going at the same time.
    SMN--XI version was nice and I enjoyed it...maybe a combining of XI and FFT'S version would be nice
    WAR--I see WAR as a DD as opposed to being a tank...some tanking capabilities, but no where near PLD effectiveness.
    ARC/RNG---XI version again...hate/love the idea of being able to shoot and move...but there should be a consequence, since no mage is able to cast and move at the same time.
    ROG/NIN---wish they were separate entities, each bring their own unique flavor to the world, as nice as they were in XI I think I prefer FFT version of both. I do however love FFTA2 version of NIN.
    GLD---should have been the other tank job, just none magical, and without a shield (think roman gladiators)
    PLD---I liked 1.0's version of PLD.

    p.s. can we please get katanas for NIN as opposed to daggers/knives.

    Warning, you're going to get bashed for comparing everything to FFXI, this isn't XI.

    I think they only really botched SMN, it's fun to play, but man, the egis look like garbage.

    I wish they had done a system like FFX, except instead of the summon replacing the party, it just fights for the summoner (and would be balanced accordingly).

    Yeah I feel summoner was botched. Not that poison mages can't be fun, but... don't call it a summoner, that has certain implications in an FF setting.

    Yea I know I am...but in my defense, if they hadn't taken so much from XI and the past FF games then I could understand...but since they did then it stands that XIV has nothing to lose from taking a few things from XI the same way it did from WoW and DAoC. A lot more to gain imo.

    BRD - I feel it should be true support. Seems silly to tie it with archer. An archer does damage from afar, sometimes staying hidden in the trees whereas a bard sings and is center of attention. The two have nothing in common imho.

    SMN - its a nice job...but it does not feel like a pet job at all. It feels like a poison mage with something that follows me around and just attacks stuff. Does not have the FF summon feel at all.

    WAR - 1.23 war was better.

    MNK - I do not like how much movement it has.

    NIN - feels like mnk without the moving. I HATE how when you do a multi hit animation it only does "one" attack. I liked FFT version as well.

    Of course this is all just my opinions

    SMN definitely isn't where it needs to be. Graphical quips aside (the Egi's are meh in appearance) the class plays nothing like a traditional Summoner. I know comparisons to XI are often in bad taste around here, but for all the problems SMN had in XI, it at least had the fundamental "feeling" of being a Summoner. Everything you did was through your pet there, which is how I feel like it should be in XIV.

    I also think BLM got a bit of a weird shakeup. While I don't hate it mechanically (it works) I don't agree with the design either. Eliminating the elemental wheel from the mechanics-side of things has desperately dumbed down the class compared to every other installment of FF. On the same note, I see no reason for us to have elemental resistances when we have no genuine elemental offense. This aspect of the game just feels rushed and unpolished to me.

    And.. Yes, BRD too has some problems in my opinion. I understand that they didn't want to go full-on support right away, that they wanted to focus only on the holy trinity.. but ugh, Bard is traditionally support, and too many Bard's are not using their support songs as is because of this decision. It needs more songs \ support skills, and more incentive to use them. Maybe nerf their damage a bit, but give them a damage buff song that increases their damage as well as everyone elses, as an example. And make some of their songs work like as a timed buff, instead of having them all maintained - it's just not very interesting as it is.

    HOLY ETHER, I've been saying this ever since it was ... well, done. Maybe before, when we just heard it would be done. I really liked how there were proper elements in 1.0, how you could choose to specialise, in a way, if you wished... Apparently they felt the need to "simplify" things, because all of us are dumb and couldn't've handled it. So they turned CNJ into a healer (from the elementalist), and BLM into this insane-damage-mage, and split the "elements" between them. Only taking out the "element" part of it in the process. Meh.

    The Elemental split between WHM and BLM isn't that big of a deal to me. WHM has had Earth and Light based spells before, and Water and Air kind of makes sense too. I also don't see this as an issue in and of itself, as you should be able off-class these skills onto BLM, which would add incentive to play both mages - by design this is good, it encourages experimentation. The problem is, you can't actually do that.. BLM is barred from using any kind of WHM skills.. but it can use BRD skills, go figure.. Plus, WHM still doesn't actually have a proper "Water" line of spells, just a knockback skill.. and both Aero and Thunder are relegated to the ranks of DoT's.. sigh.. The elemental wheel is just one of many problems I fear.

    it works exactly like traditional smns. since smn's are always also blm/whm.
