Entitled DPS, please stop being entitled

Whenever I join a dungeon as a dps, I'm just thankful I actually got a damn que. Tanks pulling extra mobs is a bonus.

However, I am mindful that people join dungeons for exp, so I will always try to go for a full clear when queing as a tank.

Yes, I typically do clears if people ask me. Demanding them as a dps, as this person did, is very rude however.

How hard is it to just politely ask "do you mind if we do the extra mobs for exp?"

And if everyone else in the party says no, just take it gracefully. I can't speak for everyone, but nearly every run I've been in reacts positively to just a smidge of politeness. I know everyone likes to make a big stink about bad players/teams/parties, but on a whole, we're a very nice community.

I ask what everone wants, and then go with the majority. While tanking, my vote is the tie breaker though. There are exceptions, but thats my general rule. Of course, when people are rude as the dps was, their vote means nothing to me.

Maybe tanks should all start letting DPS order which mobs to pull and when to pull them.

Because that's apparently a dps job according to some people.

Either that, or people are falling victim to sensational posts far too easily. Hopefully just this.

And people wonder why tanks are so commonly viewed as moody and why they're so rare >_>

This sounds incredibly hypocritical. Nowhere in any rule book does it state that the tank must determine who pulls what. Sure it is beneficial for the group if it is done this way but you have no right to demand anything yourself. People are free to play the game as they like. Just saying, you sound like an entitled tank. Pot calling the kettle black. As a tank it is your job to deal with any given situation, including obnoxious players, or be like that other guy and waste your time by letting people die to prove a point. You are not above the DPS. Also, maybe the WHM didn't have Holy unlocked yet.

What is a tank's job? Their job is to keep aggro, initiate mob pulls, soak up damage from aggro'd mobs.

What is a DPS's job? To deal as much damage as possible

What is a healer's job? To keep everyone alive

Now tell me. Which of these jobs does run pacing via mob pull size/frequency fall under?

And you're right! I have no right to demand anything. I, however, haven't demanded anything...someone else demanded something from me. As I've already said, if people ask, I typically give them much more listening. If more people want exp than don't want it, I typically go along with it. If I didn't want to for whatever reason, I'd simply leave.

I don't see why you're trying to justify two people holding two people hostage, as if they have the right to do so, especially when I was the one intended by SE to do the job of determining run pace.

And really? You think it's the tank's job to take the blame if other people screw up and they cannot or will not (in the case of purposeful screw ups) make up for it? Last I checked, obnoxious players were not a mechanic in any fight programmed in the game. They are not part of the "job". How a tank chooses to react to people being purposefully disruptive should not be factored into this argument.

Also, the WHM had Holy unlocked. She was level 50. As I've already said, the WHM not holying was more forgivable than the BRD not aoeing though.

As have I. I play all three roles frequently and actually now main NIN. And I agree, no one should act entitled. For the purpose of this topic I am referring to DPS though.

And realistically, DPS are far more numerous than the other roles and typically less needed. I am aware of that, and act accordingly when playing a dps. I also sympathize with the plight that comes with that for DPS when I tank.

Yes, tanks are the bus driver in dungeons runs but they also need to listen to the entire party about the direction to take, more so when it's lower levels for experience points. I wasn't there so I don't know the story except what you bring so yes, the dps could have been more polite in asking for running the complete dungeon. If you couldn't run the entire dungeon you should have explained why instead you ended up just having a bad time.

Please re-read my post..I'll sum it up for you though:

One dps needed experience. His healer friend was supporting him, though she did not need experience.

Me and my friend did not need experience.

So I am entitled for choosing to not kill optional mobs, when it's my role to make that choice in the first place? Okay then....

Perhaps I am wrong for choosing to make my tank vote be the tiebreaker. Guess my friend and I are not equal to the other guy and his friend in value.
