I'm simply having a peaceful conversation. Not even arguing really. I guess this is when you get all defensive for no reason I guess. You seem to at one moment acknowledge that they aren't necessarily be all bad but then continue on with your prejudices anyway. You sir are a hypocrite. That kind of attitude directly contributes to the negative environment so many people complain about.

If you want to make those assumptions about people, fine. At least admit to the negativity that you yourself help propagate with those assumptions. NOW I'm arguing with you. Do you see how you immediately and through your own actions changed the nature of this interaction? This is the kind of mess I see in game all the time from people "calling out" elitists. They created the negative environment but point blame at elitists the entire time completely failing to accept any fault of their own in the matter. Just as I'm sure your follow up post will continue to do here. This will somehow be all my fault, or at least that's what you'll convince yourself of.

At the end of the day the difference between us is simple. I'm arguing for people to stop making assumptions about one another. A quick Google search about elitism shows that the term and the negative connotations that come with it, in particular their treatment of newer players, are not some recent invention and has been around for years across multiple mmo games as a descriptor of poor behavior.

Ahem, i have been insulted by people coming from on both sides of this argument. Being pressured into doing coil by people wasn't my idea. Nor was being ditched at titan x, called undeserving for asking for story mode coil, talked around for not clearing t9, and amoung other things.

I do have an interest in learning things, and look at a written guide, but if I have to be a complete and utter jackass to get better, then I won't do it. I shouldn't have to give a resume to determine whether or not I'm part of the "peasants" some doof is referring to on social media. Even if i knew my skill relative to the server im on, I simply do not identify with the elite in this game. What do you think I hear when someone says that folks that haven't done said hot new raid before echo should just YouTube it?

...so yeah, I'll do the legwork, I'll down the potions, I'll learn and wipe till I clear.
But do NOT insist I forgive people for being blowhards and making me stressed out over where i am ingame. That is my choice to make.

This is why I stay away from hardcore content ( coil) till it's not relevant anymore. because I had bad experiences in hardcore content, that I don't wanna see again. ( Thankfully I am on a Japanese server, to the hate is unlikely.)

Tiggy, arguing a point does not require confrontaion, peaceful conversation is more than sufficient to argue the merits of something. I have no desire for a confrontation.

BTW I make no presumption of elitism or anything else, and judge people on their behavior. You could be an elitist without being an asshole, but it would take a great degree of skill to behave as an elitist without simultaneously being an asshole to others.
