How the AU Ra will "blend" in scenario?

I'm guessing they'll treat them similar to the Doman refugees in Rev Toll? If you haven't unlocked that part the Domans font show, but afterwards they do.

Since we have to beat 2.55 to access all these, then I'd imagine a few Au Ra npcs will spring up throughout eorzea. Maybe most will be in Ishgard.

They cannot make players invisible however, this is the main concern of the OP.

It is assumed that Au Ra are known about in Eorzea, but never really seen much. Seeing a lone Au Ra adventurer isn't likely to turn too many heads. Lady Yugiri only hid herself so square wouldn't have to show off the model they didn't have.

Didn't we discuss and cover this already? Aside from little tidbits of NPC dialogue outside of the main scenario(I.E Town chatter, etc), what you are to the people in the main scenario bares no importance. The only thing they really acknowledge is whether you are a he or a she. To them, you are just the "Warrior of Light". That's all.

That's the real-life reason. What folks are asking for is the in-game reason.

This topic came up a few times in other threads. Probably the most elegant way SE could have handled this was by giving Yugiri a reason to hide her face that has nothing to do with her race, like heavy scarring or something. They didn't do that, though; she's perfect and beautiful. There's no reason for her to believe her appearance would be shocking once Au Ra become commonplace.

If they bother to address this at all, and don't just leave it as a dangling plot thread, they'll probably change the cutscene dialogue to give her some other reason to hide her face. Perhaps the new cutscene dialogue will be something like, "It is the custom among those in my profession to hide our faces," or something like that, remove all mention of her appearance being a concern.

Of course, one ugly thought that I've had percolating is that maybe SE will lock Au Ra behind Main Scenario progression like they have everything else in the expansion. They could decide that you can't start a character as Au Ra, and you can't Fantasia to one until you've progressed through the end of 2.x Main Scenario. They haven't announced anything like this - but it wouldn't be the first time they've dropped an unpleasant surprise on us the day of the patch that turns previous promises completely on their heads. Remember personal housing? I'm pretty much convinced they said nothing about that debacle ahead of time BECAUSE they knew folks would be outraged. I can certainly see the Internet catching fire if they were to drop a bomb like, "No Au Ra until you finish Main Scenario!"

Unlikely since a new race is partly intended to draw new players, who would have a reasonable expectation of creating an Au Ra as their first character.

Telling them to do MS to reach Ishgard or to hit 30 to unlock new Jobs is a little different than asking them to level to 50 either to make an alt or to use a fantasia.

I suppose as a new Au Ra you will start in Ishgard and then move back to Eorzea for the 2.0 scenario? This confuses me a bit.

Well, maybe if someone see an AU Ra, there is a chance they might think it is some form of high Ul'dahian fashion thingy. We do live in a world where glamour and stuff exist for fashionable purposes.

If you're an Au Ra and then see Yugiri's face for the first time, your character will be shocked for seeing people of the same race...

so stupid.

I don't think they would necessarily have that oversight (though I promise nothing, so I may be wrong).
Only reason I think this is because of the end of 2.55 when they bring the DRG npc in - Ishgard's champion guy (...I forgot his name, but that's nothing new for me). Two FC mates who did the Dragoon quests had him say, "oh, it's you again". He didn't say this to me when I went through (As I stopped leveling Lancer on my two 50 characters for invigorate), as I hadn't done the DRG quests. So there's definitely path splittings based on the player's information.


In general, one thing I can think of to bring resolution to the problem with Lady Yugiri, is if they alter NPCs words if they register you as 'Au Ra' (just like they change the words to refer to you as he/she or by race) to react to how 'new' the Au Ra are. How scary or how they don't know how they'll get used to the Au Ra's presence, blah blah blah - maybe not even that kind of stuff. Basically- 'If Race: Au Ra, Then fire: x script".

Easiest way out, as someone said, is to pretend they always existed and therefore not discriminated against and not viewed as anything else by the NPCs. I just don't know how they'll deal with Lady Yugiri being covered to the hilt (despite her tail). Only way out of that is to alter the original script to clarify it - maybe that she was uneasy just because she was on a new continent with unknown relations with her race.

Different, yes, but both are breathtakingly foolish things to do. Jobs are ALSO a major draw for new players, but they locked them up anyway. I'm going to keep my expectations low until the day of release.

As with housing, what SE promises and what they actually deliver can be two completely different things.
