First bunch of people to accuse you - Teledji, 3-4 guards and the handmaiden could've easily been slept that way, and a BLM could've easily escaped before anyone knew what was going on at all.
It'd also take conscious effort to trigger the Swiftcast and then cast Sleep, and outside of gameplay (e.g. for story purposes) you probably couldn't do both quick enough to avoid getting arrested. The Brass Blades / Crystal Braves had no trouble roughing you up, as evidenced by Ilberd pretty much throwing you on the floor.
... and for the millionth time, we did not have a weapon and the game cannot assume you're a Black Mage or any other class.

2.) There was no reason for anybody to try and ask us to surrender our weapons. As the cutscene makes clear, the Sultana trusts us thoroughly. Merlwyb was allowed to have her weapons in the Sultana's chamber as well, so there is no general "No weapons in Sultana's chamber" rule.
3.) Nobody in their right mind would surrender their weapon in a place like Ul'dah when it's under the Brass Blades' watch, when everyone knows the Brass Blades are far from reliable.
4.) You suggest they make us surrender our weapons, but still allow a PLD or WAR in with full armor? Do you think they're dumb enough to think that it'd take more than plate gloves to kill an unarmed Lalafell girl when nobody is around?
I wish that sleep was used against us to knock us out instead of how it played out.
Remember when we were ambushed by the amaljaa? One of the amaljaa thaumaturge casted sleep on the player. That was very effective use of disabling us despite having our weapons drawn and prepared to defend against the attack
Do I really have to do this again? /sigh...
1.) There didn't need to be a cutscene to imply we surrendered our weapon(s). We had them before going into the Sultana's chambers, we didn't afterwards. The implication is there.1.) There was no cutscene to imply that we surrendered our weapons.

2.) A number of possibilities exist, but the chiefest are we were forced to surrender our weapons to advance the (Monetarists') plot and people aren't allowed into the Sultana's private chambers armed. Chalk Merlwyb being allowed to take her guns in up to diplomatic immunity.
3.) Boneheaded as it may have been, the Warrior of Light was not expecting personally-aimed treachery.
4.) As with various class abilities, the game cannot assume you're of any given class before triggering the cutscenes. Therefore any class-related variable is off the table.

I can't be the only one tired of seeing people insisting their skewed version of events is the correct way, despite the story saying otherwise.
This is the lore forum, not some "what if" RP forum
THAT would be okay. I got no problem at all, that they planed this through and found a way to get us. But we just ran away. WE decided to do nothing at all and ran and ran and ran and ran till we reach the skies...I wish that sleep was used against us to knock us out instead of how it played out.

It's so uber cowardish and I simply can't see any reason for this behavior we are forced to.
It's pointless to tell them the facts. They don't want to hear/read them. They will deny them over and over again.1.) There was no cutscene to imply that we surrendered our weapons.

As said many times, it is indeed the story. But it is a forced story, as if we had to read a book where the main character suddenly behaves stupid, so the story can go on. And people should tell this the story write, so he/she maybe will stop doing such forced things. Especially in a G A M E, where the players control the main character, not the author.

You ever have that feeling like someone was repeating something that they keep saying over and over and over again but you can't actually see the person because they are invisible? DX is there a ghost...? I'm scared ;^;
<3 it is going to be so much fun heading back to Ul'dah on my terms in the future, or however else square has the story planned out for dealing with all the many people that need cut down to size~ its going to be awesome

I'm not even frustrated anymore. I'm more entertained at the hypocrisy; people have no trouble surrendering control over their character when you're getting praise and acclaim heaped on you, but the moment that leads to you being painted in a bad light that's unfair? Funny how that works.
Facts? What facts? The only pertinent FACT is that by playing the game, you have signed an unwritten contract to the developers to relinquish control of your character to them during cutscenes. That way you go where and do what the story tells you to do, for better or worse. It's the basis of the (MMO)JRPG genre.
Don't despair, though. If you don't like this irrefutable, immutable FACT, there is a way to overcome it and create an alternate ending or scenario. Yep! It's really quite simple!
You stop playing the game.
