    It couldn't run on ps3. When they decided to support ps3 for arr, you have to gut everything for that ancient tech.

    additionally arr combat style doesn't support that sluggish movement.

    Why they decided to create a brand new mmo to support a system from 2006 when it's next Gen version ps4 was already out baffles me to this day.

    Ps2 was launched in 2000, ffxi in 2002.
    Ps3 was launched 2006, Arr in 2014. Ps4 2013.

    Stupid things happen when you make an mmo for an 8yo decrepit system but want it to run for another 8 years after.

    It couldn't run on 1-2 year old PCs, either. It's what happens when you take an engine designed for making cutscenes (Crystal Tools) and design a game around it. My gaming laptop was top of the line at the time, an Asus g53sx, and even it had problems. Problems that were nonexistent in 2.0. It's funny how people keep waving the 'console limitations' flag over a game that also flew the 'pc limitations' flag. Though I do agree, 1.0 was never going to see a release on any console, there was simply no way they could have gotten it to run without substantial issues.

    All the rose colored glasses in this thread make me double take. Apparently you're forgetting that the game itself was an atrocious unplayable mess....but yeah, live 1.0 because an animation.....ok.

    While beta testing 2.0, one of my main complaints was the lack of weight and momentum our characters held.
    It was addressed, but sadly wasn't considered for changing as they wanted to maintain a quicker style of play, shying away from the overall slower gameplay 1.0 had.

    I think that's missing the point a little, this isn't a request for a graphical update, the sooner our characters can shake off the sometimes wooden look(without breaking stuff of course) the better.

    It might even help with in game cut scenes

    I would love to see the graphics and animiations come to 3.0 as they were in 1.0. That's about all I'd like to see be implemented from 1.0. I think DirectX 11 is going to do that I think judging off the videos.

    DX11 isn't going to be what you think it will be. DirectX is just a set of drivers designed to allow easier use of graphical assets. Why design for openGL or whatever AMD uses when you can just design for DirectX and let that play with the actual codecs and drivers. There is going to be some optimization, but the game's actual graphical assets aren't changing.

    Chaos Thrust looked so good in 1.0, in ARR, it's so fast and doesn't have the same dramatic effect as it used to, and the sound/dragon cry it makes is too quick and garbled that you don't even notice it in the ARR version.
