    To be perfectly honest. I did enjoy what FFXIV had become by patch 1.23. It was shaping up to be a great game, a nice mix of FFXI and newer systems. I think, if they stayed the course of 1.23 they could have had a nice mix of FFXI and FFXIV:ARR but with such a terrible reception of 1.0 they had to "play it safe" to regain trust with their fans. I do really like ARR for what it is (with the exception of housing > ) and I have come to accept the fact that 1.0 is gone. Maybe one day they might take FFXX and make it a much more fine tuned version of 1.23. Until then I will just have to accept the grass for what it is...

    Lol, though I thought 2.0 was an improvement of 1.0 so in that way I don't want to go back XD.

    I just hope that over time and as they move farther away from that really crazy crunch time they had remaking the game that they can bring in bits of what made 1.0 great. Without bringing back the other scary bits xD. I agree their 1.23 was really good, and I'm excited to hear things like darker story, Uematsu working with Soken, new systems, a little bit more travel (without making you miss the boat and wait 1 hour - no thanks to that Orz), more present overworld monsters, update to graphics, and meanwhile i'll just always pound the table and say "more, another"!

    (Don't make 2.0/3.0 1.0 but bring in the good things that are feasible, given time and priority)

    That is the beauty of MMO's especially P2P ones, constant funding and constant upgrades. I feel now, at the end of 2.55 that Yoshi-P finally has the game he would have wanted to release if he had control of FFXIV from the beginning. From here we can expect to see many of the finer details get flushed out and make this beautiful world even better!

    They made a statement a while ago that they had to cut frames out of all the animations for ps3 framerates and so on. It was a looong time ago posted in the alpha and beta forums. Look at all these animations. I miss them. So smooth, but we wont ever see it like this again.

    SE had to play it VERY safe when it came to FFXIV: ARR. 1.0 was a complete flop so they felt they had lost consumer trust. It was only because they had made the changes they did and renewed interest in the game that they succeeded in the way they have.
    It's strange to think, but MMOs suddenly becoming very popular is a rather rare thing in the industry. The number of MMOs in the past 15+ years that have even come close to ARR's numbers can be counted on your hands.
    1.0 sacrificed a lot to look pretty. Most of this sacrifice came in the form of "fun."

    I miss them too. Seeing my character with the actual momentum one would expect from someone his size really impressed me. I never had an issue controlling it, but the removal may be centered around something I overlooked.

    Real shame we lost so much of the stunning fidelity this game offered. I'd love to see it now with all the detail and effects.
