To be honest, a part of me wishes Square Enix would bury FFXIV for good. The reason? Their choice of payment processor, ClickandBuy.
My situation with them is untenable, and I am not interested in retaining them as a payment option, nor am I interested in wasting an extra $5 on a monthly subscription through UltimatePay's game time cards.
At this point in time, I am about to be forced to have my bank cards cancelled and replaced due to ClickandBuy's utter failure to respond to my complaints. I have to take measures to protect my financial stability. This does NOT help me, because I already have outstanding preorders for other games and products at Amazon using the one credit card that is on file with ClickandBuy. This means I would have to wait for the new card to arrive, and then proceed to update all of my CC payment options with trustworthy systems.
This is the one thing Square Enix has failed so far to understand regarding ClickandBuy, and sooner or later, they will be forced to shutter FFXI and FFXIV because of customers refusing to be forced to choose between two very untenable payment options.
With each passing day when Square Enix does not address this problem, the more I begin to resent both Square Enix and ClickandBuy.
In fact, that resentment is already beginning to coagulate into something of a hatred.
This is a dangerous sign, Square Enix. A fatal one.

P.S. This thread was meant to help wake Square Enix up to the dangers ClickandBuy poses to their MMO products, and after...two to three months of solid complaints and forum threads on the topic, there's still no official response on the issue.
This kind of ignoring the problem is exactly the kind of behavior that will sink the company in the long run. Hey, Community Reps, I hope you will at least tell us that you're passing this on to Yoshi-P, because this is fucking serious!
I've watched all these forums spring up with these threads, and still no official response, or even an unofficial one? It reeks of cronyism, corruption, and stupidity. My perceptions, and intuition has rarely, if ever, failed me, and it won't fail me now. Mark my words, if this isn't fixed by PS3 release, Square Enix is going to be sunk.
P.P.S. The reason why I say Square Enix is sunk isn't solely because of their choice of ClickandBuy...I could list at least five other possible reasons. All of which would contribute to Square Enix's untimely demise, merger, or buyout by a competitor. Here's one of those reasons: In North American countries, it is against the law to commit financial fraud. International companies are not immune, especially those who have business licenses in the United States and Canada.
Also, I'm finished with trying to be civil about this issue - I've tried being polite via support channels, but received only a curt reply suggesting I use ClickandBuy or UltimatePay (which did not sit well with me). ClickandBuy has pushed my patience too far, and with Square Enix's silence on the matter, that has pushed me to the breaking point. I will continue to enjoy FFXIV, but as soon as subscription fees kick in, I am gone. No MMORPG is worth this amount of stress.

It's been how long and still no response. Unbelievable! I would love to see a lawsuit or a boycott. I think it would be hilarious because apparently they can't understand these issues. What's so hard about a multi-million dollar company having a payment system directly through them. I don't understand. Blizzard has one for wow. Others have one for other mmo's. We demand a response because come pay to play time, I promise that at least a couple thousand will leave that are currently playing. When the ps3 release comes out and they see that they have to go through this garbage as well. Hey, guess what? They are going to leave as well. Last time I checked you (SE) can't afford to do this. Please don't take your customers for fools because that will be your downfall just like the first release of this game. Remember without us customers you're nothing.
Also whoever is in charge or makes the calls for your payment system, do us all a favor and fire them. Get someone who isn't a total idiot. I also see that many are leaving Final Fantasy XI due to this issue as well from what friends are saying. Hopefully I suggest you be proactive in getting some other payment system in order asap!
P.S. Remember we as customers are doing you (SE) a favor by staying, not the other way around. Get your priorities in order.

If you truly feel like organizing a boycott please start a new thread to accomplish that. The purpose of this thread isn't really to force SE's hand regarding payment options, although I'd much like that. Its real purpose is simply to gain as much exposure as possible. You can speculate about the integrity and sanity of the company all you like, but when you start gathering a posse of people willing to quit the game with you to prove a point, or speculate how much money they will lose, you're pretty much guaranteed to have your thread closed.It's been how long and still no response. Also, I appreciate whomever decided to clean up the tag cloud, but I had preferred to leave it as it was so that people can discuss the situation while keeping in mind that lulz aren't forbidden. A little light-heartedness goes a long way to keeping a controversial thread like this open (others have been shut down). And especially the "cnb killed my father" tag - I created that one. Because Click and Buy KILLED my father. And raped my mother.
Ive used payment methods like this before, so what is the big issue with the Clickandbuy? Ive not seen any abuse with my CC info.
But yeah, paying directly to SE like you can do with Blizzard/WoW is ofc most preferable![]()

If you read the whole thread people have put up tons of reason's why C&B is not a good company. They have a F rating with the BBB, they have complains against them about reopening accounts people have closed and starting to charge them again, they have fraud charges against them, players that live in the EU have had their banks tell them not to use C&B because they have a bad reputation.. etc etc.
You're talking about 250+ posts out of the 350+ giving reasons why NOT to use C&B. If you want to know more just read the thread.
I hope SE realizes that people like me WANT to stay with this game and WANT to play... it's just the two options that they have given aren't like being stuck between a rock and a hard spot... you're kinda eh either way... *sigh*

If I remember correctly one of the Dev's did make a response over on the FFXI forum, but it was kinda one of their famous "we are looking into it" responses. Someone did post it up here on the thread at some point showing they has said something to the FFXI players...so they have said.... something to them... >.>;
I don't even care if they said we are looking into it, I'd just like a Dev to say 'yes we see this thread' though I am sure they have, how can you miss it? XD
