Why deal with penalty when you can:
Then go get a drink or bathroom and then requeue again for as many times as you want with absolutely no repercussion.

God I hate people that do this, I was going to start a thread called "If you're going to go, just go!" but this one seems to cover it. I hate when someone just d/c's on purpose and the rest of the party has to wait for the kick timer, or they're actually the ones polite enough to give the person the benefit of the doubt they didn't intentionally d/c. Like when someone somehow happens to d/c after loot drops and gets rolled on in WoD... depending on the party's ability to continue without them, I've talked the party into not kicking those people just so we could enjoy the awkwardness when they show back up 10-15 min later.
There really needs to be a penalty (lets say 30m) for being kicked for this reason. I'd say a 3 strike ruleGod I hate people that do this, I was going to start a thread called "If you're going to go, just go!" but this one seems to cover it. I've experienced this a few times recently, and have come to the conclusion that it is indeed a dick move. It's also counterintuitive. If you don't like a party, for whatever reason (usually because progress is stalled) going AFK is not going to progress you either. You're better off politely asking for an abandon, or to be kicked. As long as you played like an adult to begin with, I can't see a party not complying with your request. Once free (because you acted like an adult) you are on your way to recuing for another battle.
I've seen an awful lot of people who were perfectly respectful and mature request a kick or try to abandon a duty that isn't working out, only to be ridiculed and held hostage by people and their ego. It would be fantastic if what you said in this quote was true but in my experience, most of the time I see people request a kick, it ends with them having to afk/dc in order to get it. Unfortunately it requires the rest of the party to become adults as well in order for this to work out.
