I've always felt that "rage quit" is a bit of a misnomer. It's true for some people, but for myself and others.... there's no rage, just resignation that the party isn't getting this done/going anywhere. So we quit, no enmity towards others in the party, and go do something else (in or out of game) for 30 minutes.

That said.... sorry OP, but I would never throw someone from my FC or LSs under the bus by asking them to step into 'those' parties.

The only one that really bugs me is "Votekick me or I afk." Just be a man (regardless of your actual gender) and take the penalty.

    Omg totally this.
I queue for Ultima occasionally because it's still one of the most fun fights in the game.
Lately, it usually ends up as a tank pulling it like it's Garuda HM light farm party. Then we fail.

Sorry for going a little off topic there.

As far as rage quitting goes, just do it, I agree. I was in an ifrit ex back at the last free login weekend that was going poorly. One of the tanks wanted to leave and vote abandon, and the Bard went apeshit and complaining about how he should just quit, then kept pulling the boss the second the barrier went down. The idiot actually exclaimed that he'll keep pulling the boss until somebody left, absolutely oblivious to the fact that he kept blocking anyone from leaving.

Same. To me a ragequit is when someone is obviously upset/angry and it causes them to abandon the duty. Going off on a vitriolic rant and then leaving the party is a good example. Even leaving after a certain boss because your item didn't drop isn't really ragequitting to me. It's just quitting. Saying "this is my last try, if we don't get to (mechanic) I'm out," isn't a ragequit either. It's just resignation to the fact that the party isn't making any progress and a feeling of having your time wasted. I think the word "ragequit" gets thrown around too much anymore.

I always politely nudge the group that I'm leaving. Then I eat the penalty. It's that simple!

Very much this. Just because someone left the party during a dungeon run, doesn't automatically mean they rage quitted it. Personally still find it annoying myself, unless they take a moment to explain why they have to go. Only place where I just shrug so far if people suddenly quit the dungeon is during WoD, when the piece of gear they want doesn't drop. Happens so much that I actually expect it per WoD run now.

This usually all transpires after I explain to tanks upon entering the trial before the first pull. When people don't listen I will happily force a vote kick or abandon. I'm not going to suffer a penalty because some idiot refuses to listen to strategy or ask questions if they don't understand something I explained.
I have tanked Ultima Hm in df and in pf. There is no need for the tank limit break. The provoke issue yeah that's crazy that a lot of tanks don't understand its intended use. However, I do understand your frustration and at least you give people the benefit of the doubt before leaving.

Edit: As a side note I have been in groups as dps and seen Provoke used on pulls...

When you get into Steps of Faith and you've been trying to get it down since release and people are just incompetent and you finally get in the DF and have the tanks say "o.O i just wanted a normal roulette, either vote kick me or I'm sitting down right here"

inb4 use the party finder for your group.

    spoiler alert:

    I have.

That is crazy for a tank to say...our job in Steps is the easiest by far.

    In regards to the 30 minute penalty;

I think being respectful and asking for a kick is the best method. I think the people that "want you to stay the full time or eat a 30 minute penalty" and substantially more unreasonable than anything else. The 30 minute penalty was made to prevent abuse, but instead it is used to hold hostage anyone that doesn't want to have to put up with an hour+ of wipes on a fight that, really, is very easy.

If someone asks to be kicked, I won't try to hold them hostage if they're polite about it. Hell, I've been in the unsavory position of needing to leave a duty because my FC popped on and said "We need you for X" during my roulette.
