I think they should completely remove anima, although I think the idea of teleporting from the crystals at camps is okay. You have to get to camp on foot, but from there you can teleport like normal, and without a cost. So basically, as long as you can get to a crystal first, you can still teleport to any other crystal you've been to. (Actually, when they first started releasing information on this game and talking about the crystals and teleporting, I thought this was how it was going to be.)
The anima system is not so bad in my opinion..i think it balances the gameplay by a bit
sacrificing something in order to get something else, beside, the anima is free anyways but just the recharge time is quite annoying...seriously
i think if SE decrease the recharge time would help a bunch
Anima tp is so powerful, if SE dont limit it, it would be unbalaced. So imo it's fine at current state
The anima system works. Some people can manage finite resources better than others, so of course they like it better than those who squander. There's nothing wrong with either of them. However a system that is received with such a high range of differing opinions isn't really suited to be a main game mechanic.
Limiting it to camp-to-camp transportation should level the opinions though, making it similar to FFXI's outpost warp. To complete the balancing effect the cost of teleportation should be Gil and possibly economy-driven, with highly frequented areas costing more to reach.
In conclusion, the issue with anima is mainly its usage of a time-based system. It can either be solved by limiting its usefulness and replacing the anima cost with Gil cost, or allowing players to buy anima.
Oh, by the way, i think anima is boring. "Teleportation" in fantasy games is common but could be replaced by thousands of other more immersive ways. I can't help thinking it's just lazy design.
We can't have players paying any substantial amount for teleportation spoils. What was the max for an unsecured OP warp? -1,500g and a free return if it was secured? The anima system works. agree with kirith, let us refill anima threw gils or quests or dungeons(astral descent) or just charge for ports and no anima's, or lol anima's then a price of gils to port that is decently costly. anything that removes the penalty for people who do lots of things during there hours of playing and not 1-2things all day, tired of doing dol allll day to save some anima or craft all day in limsa cause i ported there, or do anything aallll day cause i waisted the anima. i like to bounce around alot, 1hour here nother there, yes the new transports might fix this so it can be all moot, but it's been a long time without it. they should at least make it temperary no anima costs or something to make up for it.
got a event in hour or 2, go out and still kill stuff? na my anima's ...guess i'll craft? need help out there on something ...ehh if u come port me? bouncing around 10nm's for event? people need a porting mule? or does it just end early cause dang i'm using all my anima's? dang i acually died with the new mobs implemented i gotta port again? gotta run?
and most important of all, jack and jill got money and multiple computers so they don't have to deal with this stuff, they just gotta pay little more money to se and wahlah, no more problems? rmt have 8toons, always on top of everyone else? not a fair system, it's created to pull a few more mil into the pockets of se. f that.
Of course, a teleport would have a base of something like 1000g, and increase up to two or three times that amount for high traffic areas, just so people would only use it when short on time. The rate can be easily adjusted based on how many people use it in a given time and at the same time used to remove gil from the economy.
