Know what I hate the most about RMT spam?

Honestly, it seems counter productive.

Is the plan to annoy people into submission? Somehow getting people angry with you will make them want to pay you money on a super risky transaction?
Who would be dumb enough to fall for that?

It's not to so much "annoy people into buying"
its more like "Tell as many people as you can because maybe there is someone out there who will want to do it."

And that could honestly work. Someone might be short on gil and really want something but know itll take forever, then RMT comes in, and bam if theyre feeling desperate enough or that they can get away with it, they'll do it.

But really its a marketing strategy of "Tell as many people as possible where and the price" and someone will likely bite. Especially if its a decent amount of gil for a smash amount of change.

I've made a macro that replies to them with, "NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE..." and I spam it at them until they blacklist me :P

Apparently a lot of people are. Theres virtually no spam in Japanese servers because theres no market over there. And thats where gil spammers come in. American's always want a quick fix, they dont want to work hard for something. I know I'm generalizing here, but honestly, look at the American market in general.

I wish this wasn't so but a quick trip to the JP or EU data centers proves they are definitely targeting the NA market.

It's just like any advertising, getting people to know a company name, do we get annoyed at most TV shows being interrupted by adverts? Do we get annoyed when we go to the cinema and watch half an hour of adverts? Do we get annoyed when a webpage is full of ads? What about smartphone apps? They show fullscreen ads every time you open them. We just accept it as the norm in a capitalist system where all people care about is the aquisition of wealth. It's just the same spam spam spam and hope people buy.

SE should just sell gil in their own shop. At such a markdown that people would never buy from gil sellers.

Why? Because it's their game they can create money.
They could drive gil sellers. Out of XIV in a matter of fays/weeks if they sold got for cheap. That or gil sellers would drive themselves into the ground to try and undercut SE for money

Honestly, I kind of enjoy the horribly broken English.

What they should do if they wanna make money is assemble an anthology of their horrible phrases and pass it off as some new-age philosophy.
